T-99's cost will be a hurdle for Pakistan yet has to cover it if Pakistan wants to defeat T-90 and arjun-ii tank India fielding in large number . in my opinion as Japanese T-10 cost around 8.4(2014) million dollar T-99A2 would not cost ~5-6 million dollar so Pakistan have to arrange at least `~2 Billion dollar to secure the deal to files this deadly beast .

China Type 99 tank possible new Pakistan customised Al - Haider MBT

----T99 main battle tank is the most advanced tank in China. The T99 provides a significant improvement in firepower, mobility, and protection compared to older Chinese-made tanks.
Armor :
----The front armour on the T99 turret is looks like the Leopard 2A5-style arrow-shaped spaced add-on armour modules. With the arrow-shaped add-on armour modules on the turret front and explosive reactive armour (ERA) modules on the turret and hull, the tank’s front armour protection is equivalent to 1,000~1,200mm of steel armour. It has a 1,500hp diesel engine.

Armament;

----The 125mm smoothbore main gun and the autoloader, which allows the crew of the tank to be reduced to three man.The Type 99 main battle tank is compatible with Russian 9K119 Refleks (AT-11 Sniper) gun-launched anti-tank guided missiles, fired in the same manner as ordinary projectiles. This missile has a maximum effective range of 4 - 5 km and can target helicopters. Four AT-11 Sniper missiles are carried. Secondary armament consists of 7.62-mm coaxial machine gun and 12.7-mm anti-aircraft MG.

This main battle tank is fitted with unique active laser protection system, which uses a high-powered laser to disrupt missiles laser or infrared guidance signal, disable enemy observation optics and damage eyesight of enemy gunner. This active laser protection system can also be used against helicopters.

Unusual feature for main battle tanks is a laser communication device. It is mounted behind commander's hatch and is used for a line of sight information transmission. It can send encrypted text, data or voice messages. Furthermore it is used for friend or foe identification. This system has an effective range of 3 600 m. Tank can also be fitted with GPS receiver for navigation and positioning.

The laser defence and attack systemon Type 99 is true.We can see a square box on the top of the turret, that is the laser protection system. If some enemy detect T99 use laser measure instrument,T99's laser defence sensor would find it and automatically control the laser attack system send powerful laser to destroy enemy's instrument or make enemy soldier become blind. That's a very bad thing for humanism.

Fire Control and observation :

Fire accuracy is attained by the laser rangefinder, wind sensor, ballistic computer, and thermal barrel sleeve, while essential muzzle reference system is invisible in released photographs.

Dual axis stabilization ensures effective firing on the move. The commander has six periscopes and a stabilized panoramic sight. Both the commander and gunner have roof-mounted stabilized sights fitted with day/thermal channels, a laser rangefinder and an auto tracker facility. The commander has a display showing the gunner's thermal sight, enabling the commander to fire the main gun. The Thermal Imaging System (TIS) with cooled detector using processing in the element (SPRITE) technology has narrow field of view magnification of ×11.4 and ×5 in wide field of view.

The Type 99 is also fitted with a computerized onboard information processing system, which can collect information from vehicle navigation (Inertia/GPS), observation systems and sensors, process it in the computer and display it on the commander's display, giving the ability of real-time command and beyond-vision-range target engaging.

Propulsion :

At its current battle weight of 54 tons, this gives a power-to-weight ratio of about 27.78 hp/ton. The maximum speed on road is 80 km/h and 65 km/h cross country. Acceleration from 0 to 32 km/h only takes 12 seconds. The transmission provides seven forward and one reverse gears.

Type 99

The basic variant of the Type 99 series. The latest variant that is in full service is the Type 99A2 with a 1,500- hp water cooled diesel engine and getting re-designed at some parts. The newest in trial is the Type 99KM.

The Type 99A2 has increased armor on the turret. The self-defense laser module has been replaced by an active defensive module. The ZTZ-99A2 also installed ERA on the front and side turret. The tank hull will follow the MBT 2000 configuration instead of the previously used hull.

Type 99G

CNGC has been deploying a further modified version of the ZTZ99, possibly known as ZTZ99G. A photo released by the Chinese official Xinhua News Agency in February 2008 revealed an improved variant of the ZTZ99 that features newly designed observation and active protection system (APS).The commander viewer of the new tank appears to be slightly larger than that of the basic variant ZTZ99, suggesting a possible independent commander thermal imaging viewer.

Type 99A

Successor to the Type 99G and predecessor to the Type 99A1.

Type 99A1

The Type 99A1 is the latest version in service of the PLA while the the more advanced variant the Type 99A2 is still in various trials and is not expected to enter service before the end of 2009. While the earlier Type 99 that entered service several years ago had additional armor packages on the original Type 98 turret and the chassis, the Type 99A1 has its turret top reshaped, having the hump on the turret's top removed by thickening it. This might be the result for changing the height of the turret itself to improve more protection or more space for the tank commander and gunner. Other distinct details are the armor packages on the front and at its sides, the ERA panels have been extended. The Type 99A1 might also have received further upgrades in terms of targeting computers etc.

Type 99A2

The much-improved Type 99 variant, with many major upgrades and improvements. Improvements are so significant that the A2 can almost be considered as a new tank. Some of the improvement and upgrades include a reaction improved aiming system, a digital battlefield information terminal, a newly designed arrow-shaped armor, a larger turret, an expanded tail chamber, an Active Protection System mounted on the turret with millimeter-wave radar, a new commander's periscope and an Integrated Propulsion System.

Type 99KM

The newest and much-improved variant, with newer modular active protection system , JD-4 active laser defense system, more powerful engine, and more. It is also equipped with a 155 mm gun capable of firing next-generation kinetic rounds .

China's Type 99 Recognized as World's Third Most Powerful Battle Tank

China’s Type 99 main battle tank used by the People’s Liberation Army has been ranked as third among nine of the world’s most powerful tanks, according to Focus, a magazine based in Munich, Germany.

The magazine said in an article on April 30 that a modern tank must be capable of facing enemy attacks from different directions. Taking from the experience of battling insurgencies in Iran and Afghanistan, modern tanks must also be able to engage enemies in an urban setting, the article said.

According to the article, Germany's Leopard 2 topped the list as the best modern tank. The German tank is armed with 120-mm Rheinmetall L55 smoothbore gun and two 7.62-mm MG3A1 machine guns.

Next in the list as second rank in the world is the U.S. Army's M1A2 Abrams, a strong tank with depleted uranium mesh-reinforced composite armor which protects its crew from majority of munitions.

Further, the Abrams's turret can rotate 360 degrees in just nine seconds and its M1A2 can reload its 120-mm L/44 M256A1 smoothbore gun in only two seconds. The tank can also deflect and disorientate anti-tank missiles by releasing flares, smoke and chaff decoys.

Third in the list is China's Type 99, which was recognized as the world's third most powerful tank. The PLA tank is armed with a 125-mm smoothbore gun. It also has a liquid-cooled diesel engine with 1,500 horsepower.

Next in the list of the most powerful tanks in the world is Britain's Challenger II, followed by Israel's Merkava 4, Russia's T-90, France's AMX-13, then Japan's Type 90 and South Korea's K2

Al Khalid is ranked 11, but I think Al Khalid I could make it to 9 or 10 - also I could name a million tanks better than the T-72.

T-72B3 is like a super T-72. It's deserves to be number 10 at least,

I know the T-72 get's a bad rap because how easy they blow their top, but those were crappy monkey models11 the T-72B is couple tiers betters and the T-72B3 has a modern fire control system and gunner sight etc

The Chinese Type 99, Russian T-72B3/T-90 and the Ukrainian T-84 Oplot-M doesnt belong anywhere near this list. Those tanks are specifically designed to meet the requirements and demands of their respective country's origin in mass numbers. Those tanks are never truelly ment to be high end in the first place. The fact that you wouldnt even include Altay, Leclerc, Armata and M1A2 SEP V2 makes me question if you are even trying or simply biased.

my bias is tanks that have seen combat. I didn't even want to list the K2 or Type 90

I should of added Leclrec and replaced one of the two above. I could also have removed the T-84, but that's like a super T-80 so I added it based on T-80 service.

but going on technology alone I would say

1.T-14 Armata
2. K2 Black Panther
3. Type 10
4. Type 99A2
5 Merkava 4m Windbreaker
6. Leopard 2 A7+
7. M1A2 Abrams sepV3
8. Leclrec
9. T-90AM
10. T-84 Oplot-M

:rofl::suicide::rofl:

I see. If you want to build a list of tanks that have seen and have experienced combat then you should look at WWII tanks. Only few tanks have actually experienced a war. Some modern ones that have seen limited conflicts like the Russian T-XX tanks in the Afghani and Chechen war(which were essentialy Urban and Guerilla type conflicts) but the American Abrams no doubt tops the list while facing the Iraqi armed forces twice. And to some degree the Challenger aswell.
