Whatever happened in Gen. Musharraf or Kiyani time, was already coming and inevitable. Like a suicide bomber approaching, you have no option but to sustain the loss.

To gain public support giving NRO to popular leaders was effective and short term solution. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Please! It was not inevitable. Doling out NRO clean chits was a desperate attempt to strengthen self rule and not a desperate time for the nation.

Instead of sorting out the corrupt, they were given a new lease of life by an NRO just to prolong personal rule by Mush who considered himself indispensable.

Keyani sb shuttled between troika of int.sponsors of deal, politicians and Mushy while India was having a field day in places like Karachi, Gwadar and generally establishing/ strengthening ties with TTP in tribal areas.

Keyani sb. then conveniently looked the other way while his favourites got away with stealing key seats proudly in the name of being experienced election tacticians.

Keyani Sb. was all the while hesitant on starting a blanket operation like "ZarbeAzb" and "Raddul Fasad" during his tenure. It was Gen Raheel Sharif who turned the tied on terrorism all across Pakistan by concentrating on the Job at hand as first and foremost. It is all about the choices they made that becomes their legacy.

By your justification for Mushy and Keyani, will you be ok if Nawaz got an NRO now? the stakes have never been so high...

Let me put it another way. Would you choose Mushy or Keyani as COAS right now or Gen Bajwa?

History tells us that If Panama would have transpired in Mushy era, he would have imposed martial law...then NRO and the same cycle.

If it were to happen in Keyani sb's time then he would have supported Nawaz as before, instead of letting the law take its course.

Great post! Reality usually bites...it's not even nibbling but for the usual silly retorts and ill advised moves of Nawaz & co. I agree with you that there is no need to despair or loose hope against the corrupt tubbar.

New SC bench appointed to hear Hudaibiya case

The Supreme Court on Saturday ordered the constitution of a three-member special bench to hear a petition pertaining to the Hudaibya Papers Mills case on November 28.

In an appeal, the NAB has asked the apex court "in the interest of justice, fair play and equity" to set aside a 2014 judgemeny from the Lahore High Court (LHC) to shut the case.

Justice Musheer Alam will head the bench that will review the case's merits. He will be joined by Justice Qazi Fa'iz Essa and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel.

The new bench had to be reconstituted after Justice Asif Saeed Khosa recused himself from hearing the case. "I think the Registrar's Office made a mistake by putting this case on my roster as I have already written 14 paragraphs on this matter in the April 20 Panama Papers verdict," he had said at the time.

In the agreement, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, TLYRAP said they were only expressing their opinion on the amendment in Khatm-e-nabuwwat clause and regretted government’s use of force on November 25. Upon affirmation of demands from the concerned authorities, the religious party will end the sit-in and urge their allies across the country to be peaceful.

The demands have been outlined here:

1. Law minister Zahid Hamid is suspended, TLYRAP will not issue any ‘fatwa’ against him.
2. The government had already reinstated amendments to the Election Act 2017 clauses 7A and 7B relating to Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (the finality of the prophethood). They had 30 days to release the Raja Zafarul Haq report. TLYRAP has demanded the government prosecute those responsible for the ‘clerical mistake’ under the law and constitution of Pakistan.
3. All the workers and participants of the sit-in who have been arrested by security officials since its start on November 6 should be released and all the cases against them be dropped.
4. Formation of an inquiry team to investigate the security action against TLYRAP sit-in on November 25. Those responsible should be prosecuted within 30 days.
5. The federal and provincial government should compensate for all personal and public damages caused in the entire duration of the sit-in.
6. The Punjab government should fulfill demands previously agreed upon.

That is what i have been saying ever since the Panama case started (ok, i started saying it mid way through the hearings to be honest ) and have stick to it, through high's and low's of it all. Sending them to jail was not a wise option anyway. The story needs to END for the nation to move on. Otherwise these thugs who have built support over three decades will keep coming back to bite us. Make it history is what we really need. We should however try to regain as much of the looted money as possible and then keep trying to regain more.

You see, he and his family already have ENOUGH wealth to last them a life time and then some, but still they kept looting the nation, knowing the risks involved. They fought hard to stay in the game when they could have just moved their plunder to a safe haven and moved there. Iqtedaar ka nasha bra gnda ha janab! That is what they want, to BOSS THE COUNTRY.
