The reasons are simple:

1) Arabs countries related to Palestinians as third class. They did not invest anything in development of territories. Thats why during their rule there was not any growth.
2) When Israel arrived it developed infrastructures, Palestinians began to work in Israel and earn good money, many got treatment in Israeli hospitals.
3) Since Israel captured these territories all the world suddenly began to care about Palestinians (before 1967 no one gave a damn, actually even "Palestinian" nation was invented after 1967). Billions upon billion were invested in Palestinians by UN, US, EU and some Arabs too.

Actually Brits helped Jordanians. Britain armed them and their officers commanded Jordanian troops. Thats why Jordanians were most successful Arab force in that war.
