The Mullahs and the US are the only 2 entities in complete agreement about what Islam is. Mullahs want it to be an extremist ideology, US is convinced it already is. In this environment where a chap doesn't want to be a terrorist we have two groups saying "You have to be a terrorist" the other "You already are".
The US is slowly beginning to not see the line between Afghan Taliban and the tribal people. The Afghan Taliban says they are fighting for them, the US agrees. It has already started where the US is seeing all Pakistanis with suspicion, just like the Mullahs view Pakistan with suspicion. The US stopped fighting the ideology of extremism a long time ago, just like the Mullahs stopped fighting the western ideology.
They are the only two entities that are in complete agreement that to solve any problem you got to blow stuff up. Classic example of becoming the enemy while trying to kill the enemy.
