Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood, speaking to a media outlet informed that Pakistan’s industry is running close to its 100 percent capacity.

He said that the industrial base has also started expansion, which can be clearly inferred from increasing imports of machinery. The government has been offering incentives to promote industrialization, and following the current expansion, the industrial activity in the country is likely to go up.

The government has provided a temporary economic refinance facility (TERF) of Rs. 100 billion to the business community for the import of machinery to achieve sustainable industrialization, and according to the SAPM many industrialists have started importing machinery under the initiative.

The industrialists can avail TERF initiative till March 31, 2021, under which they can avail financing at a 5 percent interest rate.

Dawood informed that exports in services have increased by 46 percent in five months of the current financial year, despite the downward pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, because of the drastic decrease in Pakistan’s cotton production, the imports of the textile sector have also gone up. The SAPM informed that the industrialists will have to import five million cotton, costing $1.2 billion to meet the textile export orders. At the same time, diversification in textile exports has gained momentum for Pakistan.

The government will continue to provide the incentives in the shape of drawbacks of local taxes and levies (DLTL), said Dawood, adding that the facility will not be available for export of yarn and grey cloth.

This is great

the problem however was that because the cnuts like Pmln and PPP were such beghairat haramis they kept trying to get power but never did anything for the country like invest in or expand its industrial base or invest in supporting that base through things like education or incentives

so even though we are at full capacity, we are limited until PTI now spends it's efforts in trying to expand that industrial base
whilst the opposition and their blind harami supporters try to create chaos and stop any change

Govt is doing that by offering incentives to import machinery expand factory capacity.

It will take a decade however for real change to occur and that is If we can keep PPP and PMLN out or even finish them

This is practically impossible.

The statement is deliberate and misleading.

. .
If this is the maximum capacity, we definitely need to increase the capacity.

.
Sure... Now prove it wrong, Patwari.
Pakistan don't have the required power generation output to operate whatever crude industry it has at maximum potential.

These are manipulative statements.

.
The textile industry is good for short-term growth but in the long run, we need both vertical and horizontal integration of the textile sector. IT, chemicals, mining and the service industry is our future.

For the textile growth to sustain and be more profitable, sugar mills installed in cotton areas or relocated in those areas should be broken down and not merely closed down and left for better times. We can not afford to import 1 to 2 billion USD worth of cotton on an annual basis while the same can be saved if this injustice is removed.
A prime example is the relocation of 3 sugar mills within cotton-growing areas. All of them were relocated in the last6/8 years and all are owned by sharifs.

With you and the likes of you on fire providing more than enough steam needed for power generation, we are generating enough power needed to supply our industry. Burn Baby Burn!!

When will this translate into reversing employment rates towards a positive trajectory?
