Pakistanis and caste system

I am Rajput and i am proud to be... Rajput is one of the best caste Rajputs rose to prominence during the 6th to 12th centuries. Until the 20th century, Rajputs ruled in the "overwhelming majority" of the princely states of Rajasthan and Surashtra, where the largest number of princely states were found.they ruled the world...here's the link read it by urself!

I wouldnt disagree too much with that with. At least not a tribal system along the same lines as those of Pashtuns or Balochis. But even Wikipedia decides to name Jatts, Gujjars as tribes List of Punjabi tribes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Todays Pakistan is not pre 47 Pakistan. The effects of Hinduism have to a large extent(in other places still are) going away.




I can understand your post with regards to interior Punjab and Sindh to a certain extent but really come to the urban areas and you'l find inter tribal marriages common. My sister is married to a gujjar, brother to a jat, aunt to a Rajput and so forth. Up to my parents time you only married within the tribe, but today marrying outside the tribe is the norm. The only tribe in the urban areas who I have seen fiercely make sure that their offspring marry within the tribe are the Syeds. Again the reverence for Syeds by some Pakistanis is the only aspect of Pakistani society that could be considered a somewhat equivalent of the Hindu caste system.

Moving on I am fine with the word "clan" as well, because again it does not imply any inherent status of a group of people within society. My problem lies with the fact that in the South Asian context, the word "caste" is naturally associated with the hindu caste system which the Pakistani Punjabi system quite simply does not follow.

city folks are a bit modern, that's why intermarriages are more common, however vast majority of punjabis are still following this haram barbaric system. It may not be hindu caste system, but it is equally brutal. If common sense applies, vast majority of pakistanis are not proper muslims because they are still following this system.

I think the only place in pakistan that doesn't have any of this kind of this clan/caste system is Karachi, Urduspeaking community there doesn't follow any of this backward nonsense

Btw, I have always wondered why punjabis in pakistan are the biggest haters of india and indians, despite knowing they themselves are hindu converts. It's a strange hypocrisy I notice among them

Judging by this post and from pervious other threads, i sense you are not a Punjabi. Its okay not to be one. If you ask me personally, i'm also not. Though being a Punjab resident, i can sense from experience that the only reason why Pakistani Punjabis would dislike indian Punjabis is by going in the past. Whether that would be when Ranjit Singh ruled us or when there was period of genocide just before partition.

BTW, your got it wrong mate. Not all Punjabis were Hindus. Predominantly it was the Sikhs who were....

Though being a Punjab resident, i can sense from experience that the only reason why Pakistani Punjabis would dislike indian Punjabis is by going in the past. Whether that would be when Ranjit Singh ruled us or when there was period of genocide just before partition.

they were mostly hindus, some were probably buddhist. Also I dont think an average pakistani punjabi even knows about ranjit singh or partition violence, so that can't be the reason for the hate. I think it's that mullahs who teach pakistanis that they are descendants of arabs or persians etc... and they are taught to hate indians/hindus. If they realize that their ancestor were hindus or buddhist, they would probably not hate as much

Bro you are not very educated at all. Not every Punjabi was a Hindu, and being one is not a shameful thing either.


Now I have a friend that works in Punjab Police. His name is Zaheer Tajik. His family has records of him being from Tajikistan, but from looks and language he is a Punjabi.

My people fought against the British, and were soldiers during the time of Ghaznavi. Yes we are Punjabi, but to discredit us is an insult.

From the past, I have nothing against Hindus, but my bone of contention is from partition, where my family members living today are still victims.

My mother's uncle from maternal side had his tongue cut out at age 9 by Sikh fundamentalists. He is a very nice man, but he cannot get married. His iq is above average, but what does he prefer?

He can writie Urdu, but when I see his state I get very depressed. All because some Sikh asshole robbed him of his life.

It's a very emotional subject.

I've seen him masturbating at late hours in the veranda where he sleeps. I was not surprised. He is nearly 74 years old. He always wanted a wife, but was not considered to be competent to marry a woman since he was dumb/mute. I would look at him and feel a sense of depression. He loved all kids and just wanted a wife. He got robbed of his own basic right.

We all call him Mama Goonga.


And it hurts to see him this way.

And I wish I could meet that Sikh sob that did that to him. I would had his head on a silver platter.

Also, I feel sorry what happend to your family but i am sure there are similar stories of muslims doing these things to sikhs and hindu families aswell. The partition was a tragic chapter where millions of people were killed for no reason . But if you think about it, who was responsible for the partition?

What you are talking about is like thousands of years ago man. We don't even know were some of our ancestors exactly lived so how can we be so sure to claim who was and was not a Hindu ? If you are from an Indian background i.e. from Bihar or UP it would be you who would know about yourself. You are last ones to get converted.....

then why do 90% of punjabis look exactly the same as other north indians, yes there might be some families who are indeed outsiders, for example (imran khan) is a pashtun but his family has lived in punjab for generations, but his type doesn't even reperesent 2% of punjab's population.

Jatt, Gujjars are not tribe, some tom or harry mentioned it as a a tribe in wikipedia. Group like Banjaras or Bhil are tribes.
