Pakistani’s Not Allowed In “At Home” Chinese Restaurant Islamabad

Wondering if they did this for security purpose, given the situation of Pakistan's security.

Its racist is what it is. Its so that foreigners can feel safe without having to look at any one with brown skin of being a suicide bomber.

If terrorists were really going to attack then why would they care if there was a sign saying they are not allowed.

There is no excuse for such stuff.

but its ok for me thats there resturents they even close it.any problim from china to pakistan why indian have more then us.any way i am not troll its just a simple pakistani think.

Why are you taking offense, even Pakistani's ask do the same with Indian issues. If a thread is open in forum any forum member can discuss it.

That's odd. Abbey, what the hell you guys doing in Islamabad what suppose to be Islam--abad?

I think people in power do not know the meaning of Islamabad.
Sad really!!!!

did anyone go and find out. if anyone goes please take a camera with you so that everyone can see what this place actually is.

If I may one request to all mods.. Please.. ban these quasi-fanatic nutjobs that have multiplied like anything over the past 5 months. Its pathetic to see dreams of Islamic caliphate ala Baitullah Mehsud running amok on the forum with concepts of purging Pakistan of all things that dont go with what they understand Islam as.

I think this is some BS so-called incident, how the hell that Chinese

resturant expected to survive if such thing really happened ?

There are plenty of samiliar case on the net too. Its the matter

whether you are going to take it seriously or not.

Unconventional Life: No Indians allowed. Only foreigners

your information is wrong. I already checked them out. If anyone wants to, please do yourself to verify. Phone = +91 413 2623 340.

Assuming this is true, and not politically motivated the clue is highlighted in RED. As in many middle eastern cities where alcohol is prohibited from being consumed by locals, however there is an exception for expats and foreigners IF they consume it in their LOCAL premises AND with the understanding that they don't corrupt the local devote Muslims with temptations of alcohol.

The REAL reason seems to be this is an alcohol establishment.

And if you are talking about during the British Imperialism times, it was actually "No Dogs or Chinese Allowed", and this was patrolled by INDIANS against CHINESE in CHINA! So if you guys want to talk about modern day discrimination look no further to India. Do you know how many establishments I was barred from entering, they would make up fake lies saying "Oh, we don't have any vacancies" yet they do. We can discuss Mongoloid persecution and discrimination in Hindustan if you wish. While we're on the topic, it seems GOI has scapegoated a Korean. :disagree:

Discrimination against foreigners, Mongoloids, Daltits and Muslims in India is widespread and epidemic. It is plainly apparent of your tactics to sow distrust among Pakistanis and other Asians. :pakistan::pakistan::pakistan:

I am pretty confident that 99% of what he has written above is false, basically something he has seen in the Bruce Lee movie'Fist of Fury'. Please credit others with some intelligence.
Also I would like to hear some details about where he was discriminated against in India. I'll be amazed if this person can give even a single name of the establishment and the city where the alleged act of discrimination happened.
And what was the about some Korean being scapegoated, I did not get it.
Bro, please do reply at your earliest convenience. Sorry, I realize that this has little to the original thread, but the world needs to know how my Chinese brother 'suffered'!

"
On January 5th 2010, Tuesday night a group of five of us; two ladies and their respective husbands along with another family friend decided to try out this Chinese restaurant called “At Home” located in Islamabad, F-8-1, Street 30, House 12-A. As we made our way to the gate, we could see a large number of cars parked outside this restaurant/house. The gate was firmly locked and a waiter walked out of the front door, glanced at us from behind the closed gate and said “No Pakistani’s allowed”. We were obviously taken aback and politely asked him to call the manager. He refused and said that it was his job not to let any Pakistani’s inside. We were shocked, embarrassed and naturally lost our temper. Meanwhile foreign customers were walking in and out of the restaurant as us Pakistani’s stood disgraced. Harsh words were exchanged between us and the waiter and we walked off the premises feeling humiliated as never before.

‘At Home’ is apparently being operated by a Chinese woman. I am fairly certain that the restaurant is not registered with the relevant tax departments. It was later that we learned that not only is this restaurant illegal, as it is a commercial business in a residential area, but it also openly sells alcoholic beverages.

The reason for writing this letter is to highlight this important issue of discrimination against us in our own country. What was the point of gaining our independence if we are prevented from going somewhere in our own country and that too by a foreigner? So this is an appeal to the authorities and the general public to investigate and boycott this restaurant."

The above letter is taken from the Facebook page of a group that appeal against this act of of humiliation against us on our own land inside our own capital whose very name is “ISLAMABAD (The City where Islam Lives and Prospers or The City of Muslims). The letter is supposedly written by Syed Salman Shah

Few days back i was having a discussion with my brother and we reached a solid conclusion that the real irony of Pakistani’s is that they will never learn to fight for their rights! We will love to stand in long ques for Atta, Cheeni (Sugar) and Gas but we will never come out to stand for an hour infront of Parliament house to protest the illegal hoarding of such things. We will love to get slapped in public by our politicians but we will never stand up to fight for our rights. The most we can do is to take out our frustration here at Internet from the safety of our warm rooms sitting on a couch or lying in bed with our laptops on top of us.

This is the irony! Internet is always a medium of communication but revolutions are never brought on the net! Real revolutions are brought when the people come out on the streets and brace the cold and hot weathers to fight for their right in a peaceful manner.

Now the above mentioned facebook page protesting this injustice has 1900+ fans and they are mostly based in Islamabad. I wonder what will happen if those 1900 people come out for a peaceful protest outside this restaurant decided to stay there till the time their JUST demand of equal treatment is not fulfilled. Moreover, they should also raise up their voices against the illegal business of this hotel. I am sure just one day and this restaurant will be out of business since Foreigners will never go to the place which has security issues.

I am not dictating any illegal steps here or in favor of harming anyone business but at the same time we can not let anyone disgrace our beloved Pakistani’s any where in the world and not to speak inside our own country Capital City!

Pro-Pakistan joins this protest against this Stupid and unjust move by “At Home” Chinese Restaurnat and demand the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take a suo moto of this case and restore the rights of Pakistani’s inside their own land. Moroever, we also request all our readers to express their opinions here and to show their readiness to join us in a peaceful proteset against this move by the Chinese Restaurant in the capital city of Pakistan.

Your argument is on a different tangent. We are discussing the right of admission of locals at outlets in their nation. At no place in Middle East are locals banned from entering. Different places have different levels of conservatism but there are no laws barring the locals from entering any of the outlets. In fact during the holy month of Ramadan, all restaurants etc. are closed in the day and are open only during Iftar timings. So the banning is only for the expats and the locals are not banned.

The respect to human dignity has only increased in the past. Things such as "Dogs and locals not allowed" or any such abusive practices against the locals are now things only in the history at all places where I have been to, except for some areas in Manila (mostly in malate vicinity) and some outlets in Cebu. Here only local girls are allowed if they are being escorted by foreigners but local males are not allowed.

Yes there is a law at some places in Asia barring locals from entering Casinos but not from entertainment/shopping/food outlets.

Re disrimination in India against Indians, if you can point out any such place, please make specific mention or stop making false allegations.

No Indian allowed here; Haagen-Dazs: Wrong choice of words- Hotels / Restaurants-Services-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times
This is what happened to Haagen Dazs after it allegedly did the same, just allegedly. Nice to see some people proud of their country especially in this part of the world. Not withstanding the fact that this is beyond what a people would tolerate. Read this people. Really kicked ***.

Work in progress :D

So has anyone politely asked the establishment the reason for their policy? If not, then do that first. There could be several legitimate reasons, such as alcohol establishment, security reasons, private function in progress, meeting place. It could also be this is not a registered place, or other reasons.

And regarding the places in India, constant racial discrimination is rampant in all cities. The typical scam goes like this: Pretend to provide a "service" to a foreigner, quote a price that is about 5X local price. Then lead them to a dingy suspicious place (especially true if they are the tuk-tuk drivers) so the foreigner becomes lost. Make up some excuse why the fare should now be 10X, and if they foreigner doesn't budge, make THREATS. Here, depending on the situation the scam/thief/police/owner may rob you, rape you, gang attack you, or much worse!

Say there's a vacant motel and you ask to rest. You see a vacant sign and you ask for a single bed. Seeing you are a foreigner their will either: 1) say there's no single beds, only double. Then you ask for double, and they immediately backtrack and say "sorry, me no double beds either!". "But you just said." "No. no. no. I say we only have super-special rooms" "Okay, how much for these rooms?" "$200/night!" "$200 a night?! Not only is that exorbant, but the sign says it's only $20/night right over there!" "No. no. no. you know noting get out!!!"

Or

2) Even though there a empty rooms, they will tell you "No vacancies" (even though right before you people book rooms and after you people book rooms) "Go to XXXX place". So you go to the next establishment, and they say the same sh1t. On and on and on this goes, remember you are a foreign tourist with lots of luggage, and they KNOW you are tired so they EXPLOIT this fact. Finally you go to XXXX place and you find out the same scam as in 1) but only the PRICE is even HIGHER (because they assume, often correctly, that no other establishment will let you stay!)

You can easily see other foreigners get scamed numerous ways. Just as an example. A British man was tricked into missing his flight. Right away another Indian who works for a particular airline (say Deccan) walks up to him and says "I can help you come with me!" So he takes him to a set-up. They then engage in deceptive small talk, collecting data they will later exploit. Then they say oh this flight is "all booked solid (it's never booked solid)" and so he asks "When's the next available flight?" "Oh, not until 3-5 days from now (again a lie)" "But we have this special seat that someone canceled, but it's only a cheap $500 (real indian local price $30)." From their small talk the Indian fraudster knows this man has an important appointment so they reassure him "There's no other way for you to get to XXXX in time, you MUST pay for this!"

Now regarding eating establishments. This is quite common. You find a semi-clean restaurant where you see expats and foreigners like you are coming in and out. So you go in, but you notice the stark treatment received between your caucasian friend, yourself and the Mongoloid (NE). It may seem the white person is being treated well, but shallow perceptions are deceiving. He's being scammed just like you, it's just they think he is RICHER so they play their game differently. What is alarming is how they treat the Mongoloid (e.g. Nagalanders, Manipuris, etc), it's really NASTY! My god, it's really BAD!

It doesn't really matter if there are signs or not, the locals ignore them. If they "like" you (i.e. sucking up to you, or trying to scam you) they will let you in. If they don't like you they will chase you away, and if you're lucky you get to hear a bullsh1t excuse.

So is this just an isolated instances, my personal experience only? No, I've travelled to countless places and nothing is Discriminative as in India. And I'm definitely not the only one. Go to YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. and you can find videos and testimonies of TENS OF THOUSANDS who've experienced the same and much worse!

Do you understand the concept of 'discrimination'? I mean, really, do you?

Foreigners getting scammed is not called discrimination, please realize this. I have been conned in Cairo by a tour guide and they try to do this to foreigners as often as they can. I would certainly not call it discrimination. Its just being conned! You wasted so much energy typing, without answering one question I asked. How about some names, like what city, what hotel, anything, anything at all?
