ATTARI: Despite Pakistan's government's repeated assurances of instilling a sense of security among its minority communities, the Hindus of Pakistan continue to bear the wrath of fundamentalists and are still being persecuted on the basis of their religion.

Though a majority of them are tight-lipped upon arriving in India fearing punishment back home if they criticize their own government, a few prefer to vent their anger fanned by constant humiliation.

Daulat Ram is one such person who is fed up of the daily humiliation by radicals in Pakistan and is willing to migrate to India if he finds a business opportunity here. "Nothing is well there. We are forced to live like animals and keep our mouth shut," he said adding that they (fundamentalists) come to their houses and places of work carrying Kalashnikovs and plunder whatever they have. "They take away ornaments, harass the women and there is no one to listen to us," he said.

When asked about forced conversions, he said "Don't ask what happens."

After spending a major part of his life in Pakistan, Daulat Ram, in mid 60s, said that not only he, but a majority of Hindus were willing to migrate to India. "Let the Indian government provide us with job opportunities and then see how many Hindus will leave Pakistan for good," he said.

Another Pakistani Hindu who didn't want to give his name buttressed Daulat Ram's claims. "He has dared to say all this, which is true, but everyone can't speak like him. We have to live there and take care of our families too," he said. He also said that Hindu girls were still being forced to marry Muslims and embrace Islam.

However, another Hindu, Manohar Lal, countered their opinion. He said that, "Things have changed now. Earlier there were some problems as Hindus were being subjected to humiliation but not anymore." Asked about the willingness of Hindus extend their Indian visa's validation he said, "We have been given one-month visa of 7 cities and we have to go back. We will not get long-term visa to stay in India" he said.

Let Daulat Ram live with Manohar Lal...if he finds Pakistan so good. :D Anyways m not in a favor of them returning to India, they are Pakistani...

Law and order and security situation is not in Pakistan even for "Sarkari Muslims" let alone minorities and it will take time to improve and Sindh where most of Hindus live have it's own mess which will take even longer time. So, If any hindu want to migrate to to "Hindustan" than GoI should give them nationality rather than scoring brownies and doing nothing.

The point of this article was scoring brownie points.

The same as Pakistanis posting stories about Dalits.

They both don't care or value Human life, but find these human interest stories and twist them to fit within their jingoistic agenda

There is difference between some internet worriers opening threads on PDF which have max 50K viewers than main stream media doing this - My post would have been same even if it was posted by Pakistani.

I have observed pakistani newspapers (Dawn, express tribune) pull out the caste card.

The whole caste system should be viewed in a more nuanced manner. The mainly upper caste internet warriors play on the special priviledges afforded to the lower castes in the form of affirmative action. A lot of this stems from false pride, and a real grievance from the haphazard application of the system.

From the lower caste side, the caste system evolved into one of the most insidious hierarchical system devised my Men.

The upper caste now, cannot be held responsible for this, but there is an attempt from the Hindutva right wing to diminish or wish away the atrocities of the past. This hurts the sentiments, and only serves to affirm what the lower castes have always thought about upper castes.

But there are a whole lot of politicians who take these legitimate political grievances and twist them to get power. What this does is divide the people more and is nothing more than a power play.

The caste system has bequeathed the Indians a maze of identity politics. While a lot of Indians wish to see an end to the caste system, the fact is, 90% of indians marry within their own caste, sub-caste etc.

So much so that the Indian supreme court remarked that the swiftest way to end casteism is to implement inter-caste marriage

I haven't seen main stream Pakistani media giving frequent dose of Dalits/Castes --- Except Kashmir for obvious reason and that also get less spotlight these days --- Express Tribune is not mainstream media nor is credible infect it has more followers from India than Pakistan. Agree with rest of your post.

Actually Dawn has a large indian following too.

To remind Pakistanis that they are a failed state (insert rest of the trope).

in fact, a lot of Pakistani newshow clips in the internet have a cult following.

Pakistanis and Indians don't need to be enemies. We are our worst enemies

If you're going to post an article, at least be fair and highlight both sides of the argument.

For example, from your article;

This is why I think threads like these should be banned, whether they target India or Pakistan is completely irrelevant, because in the end they're nothing more than propaganda tools.
