ISLAMABAD - Two top Pakistani officials would proceed to Washington ahead of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s scheduled visit to Moscow to take the US into confidence and remove reservations if any over this historic visit, it is learnt through credible sources.

“These two top officials are expected to leave for Washington on 16th February (tentatively) on a three-day visit during which they would meet top US officials in Defence and State Departments,” the sources told The Nation yesterday.

The officials are also expected to visit White House where they would meet the US National Security Adviser. However, these all meetings are being worked out.

Both the top officials are expected to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan next week to get guidance and instructions from him for their talks in US.

Prime Minister Imran Khan would be also chairing a high level meeting next week on his Russia visit.

Prime Minister Imran Khan would pay an official visit to Moscow in the last week of February for which dates from February 23 to 25 are being worked out. This would be an official visit by any prime minister of Pakistan to Russia after 23 years.
Seems like Pakistan is the only country with the integrity and credibility to try and give peace a final chance. Else these savage Europeans will be at war again with catastrophic results.

So long as Pakistan behaves in this manner, there will be no real progress made to become entirely an independent state. Pakistan owes no one, I repeat no one any explanation on its bilateral ties with another state. In particular and especially not Washington DC or London. This behavior by Pakistan at this moment, is best described in Urdu language as "Chamcha Giree".

It is high time Pakistan established honest and trustworthy relationship with Russia. And Pakistan has not made the distinction between Russia and the former Soviet Union. Then I can say with certainty that those in the government have some incompetent people working for the state.

Pakistan has to get out of this Cold War mindset. As today Russia is not a state to be messed around with. Pakistan ought to treat it's relationship with Russia, how it would treat China, who Pakistan's closest and most important ally in the world.
Why do you look at it so simplistically? Have some faith in our officials they are very capable diplomats of world class caliber.

Why? Why should we care about US reservations? We use to curse people like Nawaz and Benazir followed by Mr 10% for such cheap theatrics because their stake was never in Pakistan hence the usual pleasing of their masters but never expected this from IK and his government.
He keeps harping about breaking the shackles of slavery, when is he going to follow his own advice? This news disgusts me.

Pakistan and USA should not go for a painful divorce where both parties sell and burn each others' stuff. Rather it should be a happy ending :P

Because it's a small political world with complex events, both will be seeing each others on different occasions.

There are ups and down but U.S.A is old ally of Pakistan. Even they tried to help Pakistan in 1971 when they sent warship. U.S.A helped Pakistan ,they gave us Non NATO ally status, even they provided aid not only militarily but provided civilian assistance to Pakistan as well. They opened markets for us so that we export in U.S.A. America don't want Pakistan to fail, The risk of Pakistan falling apart along with nuclear weapons is a far scarier prospect for their strategy makers.
The ships never arrived and it seems you and your ilk in Pakistan are still waiting for those ships.

State relationships and policies go beyond single governments. Even today US & PAK military ties are the same as 10-15-20 years ago. People mistake government and state as the same.

This. I get this impression as well.

Some people are too shortsighted to understand the bigger picture and how diplomacy should work.
There is a balancing act that will also be done in Russia to take them into confidence about this confidence building move as well. Pakistan has deep ties with Ukrainian defense industry among other small ventures just as it is cultivating deeper with Russia.

Pak and US military ties are nowhere near as you describe. The Americans initially banned military exchange during Trump era. The entire US establishment blames the Pakistani military for their failures. Top US military generals accuse Pakistan for US failures during hearings in broad daylight. If anything, Pak US military ties are non-existent today. The US has chosen the Indian side and Pakistan has chosen China.

The minute interaction between Pakistan and the US is nothing more than formality. Those who keep harping about US Pak bhai bhai need to update software. It was over during Bush and Obama era. It is over today.

Ok
Guess you know more then.

All you need is eyes and not to be an adviser of the US, but Pakistan.

LOL which person is still under the assumption that Pakistan and US relations are dandy? There is zero convergence on any issue. You got to be wearing a sleep mask to believe that US Pak relations are still intact.
