We have outsourced 80% of Foreign Policy work to Pants-gone and 20% to our Generals :D

Another thing is Pakistan never utilized its relations with US in other fields especially in field of Education, Science and Technology and mining of resources.

What would hv happened is what is happening right now- now the amrikan drones then would hv been the russians Sukhois violating our soveriegnity- and you are talking about reasoning with the then red army- who on an invitation invaded afghanistan what would hv been our fate with russia in west and her proxy india on the east?-Recently russians humuliated georgia and you talking about resoning with them?-
Nope. With your resources and Afghanistan and giving acces to Soviet Union to warm waters, you could have diverted its support to India in your favor or at least to neutrality. Also, you had China as your friend which also had Communism.

You could have formed a strong alliance with Soviet Union and China and since China had dispute with India too, you could have created a strong block to isolate India.

Even with China as your ally for decades, you didn't utilize them effectively too. Still you can bring China's intellectual ability in your country and investment in mining your resources.

Pakistan never had good and efficient Foreign Policy. I think it is biggest blunder.

We actually never had any foreign policy, let alone inefficient! A policy based on sovereignty, integrity and solidarity was never adopted - we have been just adjusting idea cum policy accordingly!

I don't know why people still think America is so much more noble than Russia, especially after the the past decade.

With amrica our sovereignty exist- under russia we would hv been another afghanistan or georgia in history-

9/11 was a conspiracy to invade Pakistan ? :hitwall:

Who told you that ?

Another conspiracy is there to get Osama from Pakistan ... While he was already in there custody ..

From Shah of Iran to Saddam. In between many dictators paid price for friendship with US. US did more harm to Pakistan than Russia ever did. Still people think that evidence of destruction because of friendship with US is better than What would have been the case with friendship with Russia.

At one side there is reality and at other side its assumption.

That had been an unlickely difficult scenario- with too many risk factors- a better alternative should hv been if we hv dealt with the mujahideens a little better-

You leaving out a very important aspect which concerns us the most-
With russian frienship Zia would hv lived longer- he would hv been a stalin type leader- imagine this-
We are still suffering from his policies- imagine 20-30 years more of him with communist russian support-

Don't bring India in the discussion and NO, India never proposed any physical support to US for any of their wars.

India always cleared himself of any military support to US.

You only need to look into post 9/11 scenario, how India was bending backwards to offer assistance to US .

Recently russians humuliated georgia and you talking about resoning with them?-

Policies & Agreements of commies are far more trustworthy than US

Well there I see more historical mistake. Pakistan was confused about what and who should rule them. Also, the Army got too much influence in Pakistan. If civilian govt. would have had leash on Army, these military dictators never would have come. Also, Army got huge support from common man as they used India card of people.

I blame common man's decision after death of Quaid and Liaqat Ali Khan.

You are fed with wrong history, the so called warm water theory. Afghanistan's communist regime invited USSR to crush the uprising against the land reforms of Afghan government. Ziaul Haq saw the opportunity to get legitimacy and aid from America and it all turned out to be a war of two superpowers.

It was a good move by India. It was win win situation. If Musharraf would have said NO to US, US would have used Indian bases and Pakistan would have received sanctions and US might have attacked terrorist havens in Pakistan. Latter is very unlikely but we never know about US. Also, taking US away from Pakistan would have been great diplomatic victory.

Turns out Musharraf agreed with US, and when US bombed Afghanistan India offered development assistance in Afghanistan to again get good dividends as its Foreign Policy and money pushed US and UK, towards what India has been telling about terrorism, and NATO targeted those terrorists who were against India too. US also put pressure on Pakistan to act against the same terrorists and Taliban they supported post Cold War. Now it as it is damn obvious that Taliban may turn against Pakistan and it happened. Ironically, India used its lesons learned from backfiring of LTTE and applied it in case of Pakistan and Taliban.

So, it was a great Foreign Policy with good results in both cases.

Its very unfortunate to see how a land reform to benefit poor in Afghanistan turned into a messy war of two superpowers.

US hired to Zia-ul-Haq to gain its own interest against USSR ... If Bhutto can survive it couldn't be happened ..

But ‏Musharraf ruined India's great foreign policy :smitten:
