ISLAMABAD: Deputy Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia, Prince Salman Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, said on Monday the establishment of Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) as well as Military Cooperation Committee (MCC) would prove beneficial forums to improve defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
During a meeting with Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif here at the Ministry of Water and Power, the Saudi Deputy Defence Minister showed keen interest in defence products being produced at Pakistan Defence Industries.

He appreciated the quality and standard of the products being produced at low prices.

On the occasion, Khawaja Asif stressed that Pakistan had always looked upto its Muslim brothers and consistent support from Saudi Arabia was commendable in the regard.

He said, "Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy brotherly and cordial relations, which are based on historic bonds of mutual trust and understanding."

Saudi Arabia had always supported Pakistan on all major issues at national, regional as well as international level, he added.

He said Pakistan had faced a lot of difficulties during the ongoing war on terror and had laid down unprecedented sacrifices in this regard.

"We have not only lost our brave and valiant soldiers in the line of duty but the civilian population has also suffered immense causalities," he added.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan believed in regional stability and a peaceful Afghanistan.

"We are also keen on supporting Afghanistan and strongly believe that it is in the interest of the region", he added.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik and other top officials of the Ministry of Defence along with Saudi Ambassador Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ghadeer.

On regional situation, the Prime Minister said that "Pakistan reiterates its keen support for the peace process in Afghanistan and believes that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in regional interest."

The Prime Minister appreciated the Saudi Government's role in implementation of the United Nation's Global Counter Terrorism Strategy.

The interesting part is that the command in chief of the Royal Saudi Strategic Missile Force has attended the meeting. This meeting came after Prince Saud Al-Fasial the foreigner minister of Saudi Arabia visit to Pakistan last week. You do the math.

any major defense ventures are in pipeline ?? or any kind of co-corporation ?

The greatest thing Saudi Arabia can gift Pakistan is to not meddle in its politics and its funding of wahabism...Thats all we ask!!

I can get you into our dreams as long as you let us in yours

What are you expecting to happen after this latest development?
i do not see much things materializing or growing.

Who knows what is going to happen? Maybe you don't have a good knowledge about the relations both countries maintain.

So how many troops will Saudi Arabia send to Pakistan in case Pakistan gets into a war with India?

So have the Saudis protested the drone strikes that are killing innocent civilians in Pakistan?

Pakistan has enough troops and in no need of Saudi troops.

So have the Saudis protested the drone strikes that are killing innocent civilians in Pakistan?

Whatever lies within Pakistan territories is an internal matter of Pakistan.

Then why does Saudi hire Pakistanis to get involved in internal affairs like Bahrain? Is it a one way relationship?

This is excellent news. I hope that we can increase the warm relations for the betterment of our two people first and foremost.

Where did you get that from? Are you back to trolling again after your recent ban?

@Aeronaut your comments dear?

Apart from a small deployment during Saddam's aggression, no Pakistani troops have been 'deployed' since in the KSA.

Our strategy with KSA goes as below.

  • Help them build a robust command and control structure.
  • Help improve the officers quality
  • Help improve and implement the recruitment and training regimes
  • Asset management, maintenance and deployment.
  • Inter services cooperation and synergy.
  • Training their Special Forces in aspects of combat, and management.
  • Intelligence cooperation
Above is applied to all 4 services, Army, Air Force, Navy and Saudi National guards. Our role in Saudi Arabia is that of 'capacity building', which we have been carrying out since a long time. Saudi military has come a long way and NOW is able to handle its own business. Pakistan's help will be required in establishing the Inter GCC Command, since they wish to raise a Standing Army like we have.

Peace out.
