Pakistan Receives Russian Kornet-E ATGM

I wish I could give you millions off positive ratings
Cheaper is not always better. Important thing is to meet the requirement of costumer with a reliable technology under a competitive price tag but It seems Pakistan will make a great competition to judge the performance of Chinese, Russian and Turkish ATGM.

Pakistan and Turkey have already discussed to make OMTAS trials to see how OMTAS is going to perform under the scenarios Pakistani Military officials will form. The source mentioned that trials will be done for Pakistani ATGM profurement program. It is also said that It will be done until the end of 2019.

Don't you think HJ-12 will be way cheaper?

HJ-12 is for infantry and have less range, although PA need ATGM like that, but Kornet-E is not bad at all with 5km range and 1200mm penetrating capacity.

The Kornet-EM what Pakistan should look into if we want a Russian ATGM.

Kornet is way more advance then Baktar Shikan. I doubt Mi35 can launch Kornet.

Even then why Russian ATGM when HJ-10 & HJ-12 withToT are possible??

More Kornet and a PLA 'javelin' type ATGM being looked at.

Why Kornet?? And which version?? HJ-12 or any thing new??

Cant give specifics, I been hearing about some air launched and the HJ-12s but we want some specific Pak modifications.

Pakistan need to manufacture ATGW which ever system they select with TOT as we can't continue to live on others good will and with constraints. Same applies for SAM too as PAF can't be every where with their limited fleet. We should do as other countries have done before us and raise the logo of made in Pakistan.

52 Launcher with xxxx missiles perhaps ?
The limited numbers could basically be for pilot testing. At IDEAS 2018, Turkey and Ukraine both expressed interest in Pakistan's ATGM plans, and the Kornets came in 2017-2018.

So, this is still in process it seems. @denel @cabatli_53

the purchase appears to do more with binding relationship as it appears. plus its a good system too.

IMO, It is related to Army's requirement regarding expansion of HAT forces, as more TOW-II launchers & missiles cannot be inducted at the moment. For the first time, I see multiple HAT battalions under a single Corps HQ.

HJ-8 deployment continues, but units tasked to repel IA tier-1 armoured regiments require more punch than the 120mm HJ-8.

Exactly it seem this is the case, one more thing if we try to note that PA current procurement is focusing on those conventional weapons with high mobility which though fall under defensive weapons category but could be employed in offensive role rather to go for weapons that purely fall under offensive conventional weapons category for example
- Program to procure tank is put in halt, but track SPH is/ was in focus
- Plan to introduce track IFVs in PA
- Mobile SAM and SHORAD and MANPADS
- New anti tank missiles like this procurement and interest and discussion for Turkish options

So look like PA is preparing to fight a defensive war

P.S. or a limited offensive war

Al-Haider program aside, fortunately AK-1 production is coming back on track with 45 MBTs delivered till mid-2018 as part of Phase-1.
Last year, HIT released a tender calling for supply of components for 110 AK-1 within 3 years of signing of the contract (Phase-2).

Regarding ATGMs, PA appears more inclined towards larger missiles now with Konkurs-M (on Viper IFV prototype), Kornet-E (ordered) and OMTAS (interest shown) all exceeding its on-paper specs.
