Pakistan preparing 'detailed response' to Trump’s allegations, says official

This sort of naive thinking makes me wonder what world you live in? Its certainly not the real one.
What is the American definition of hope, stability and democracy again? Is it Iraq, Syria or Libya?

They are well known for overthrowing and annihilating stable nations at the drop of a hat to promote their own interests. Trumps rant and flip flopping shows his desperation when it comes to Afghanistan. It's a different neighborhood where they have very few friends and all they can do is bark for now. Iraq and Syria are not landlocked and are surrounded by their Gulf allies and Israel. South and central Asia is a different ball game.

Anyhow...
Trumps speech was clear on their expectations from India to confront regional powers like China, Pakistan and Iran in order to promote American interests, which are not necessarily the same as Indian interests. India so far has been unable to build a measly port in Iran due to American pressure. What do you think will happen now that Trump wants "closer cooperation" with India in Afghanistan? There is a reason he stressed the South Asian strategy. They need a dog to do their bidding and it might get expensive and lonely for India.

Reminds me of "you are either with us or against us", except this time Trump is directing it at everyone.
A drowning man catches at a straw!!!! However, these time these are anacondas looking like straws - CPC, Kremlin, OBOR, the Family etc.....

Correct answer was yes Indian investments in Afghanistan will be safe. And it seems clear US does not want Taliban to come to power in Afg which obviously Pakistan does. Two allies in the war and both wish different outcomes. How does that work out? Does Pakistan really wish to help US or it is all smoke and mirrors?
India can keep investing in Afghanistan along with US. Taliban will find ways to blow up those investments. When you say investment, you know what you're investing for. It isn't going to give any results. Hence, investment will be blown up like a balloon :)

There is a brilliant south african engineer who has greatly helped air weapons complex in Pakistan , this @denel chutiya is not from that category , that much I can tell.

United States interest in the region is to contain and limit China, and one of the ways they can achieve this is by building up India as a power house within the region, India just like any other powers of the world also has and have had hegemonic desires and Pakistan being a power of any sort is not acceptable to the Indians because of their ambitions and because we limit their regional influence, Pakistan is also one of the closest allies to China which is unacceptable to the US.

It is because of this geo-political scenario US will and are doing their level best to weaken Pakistan and build up India militarily as much as possible, it is also the reason why they have allowed India to have a footing inside Afghanistan and RAW Indian intelligence agency is actively funding TTP terrorists against Pakistan, we have had many proof of their involvement and Ajit Doval Indian security adviser has also openly admitted funding the terrorists, it is in the interest of the US and India to see Pakistan turned into another Syria or Iraq but we are not incompetents like the Arabs, we know how to safeguard our own interest and survive and swear it we will.

US is a wolf in sheep clothes, trusting the wolf is signing your own death warrant, we have learned this the hard way.

USA wants to leave Afghanistan without a Taliban regime in place. It has nothing to do with India.

Pretty naive to think that we will not anticipate it and flatten the threat
..remember, we got the nukes 3 decades before you got yours from China.
are
Actually, the Samson Option exists for North Korea, Israel, and Pakistan and all them will use if they really perceive utter destruction. Hopefully, it will never come to that.

Its not possible to make sure 100% controlled access in to Pakistan. Pakistan already told visiting American delegation to point in map where save heaven are and we will take you there under a hour in helicopter, they didn't answer.

But some taliban entering Pakistan along with other afghans is possibility and there is little Pakistan can do for now.
It can, of course, expel to the last single Afgan from Pak, totally close the border (not even a pigeon is allowed to move in/out), mine the border with shoot-at-sight order, close all air passages, no nothing

There is a saying in Hindi..."Apne galli mein kutta sher hota hai". The guy would be reminded his ancestry, his birth, his entire family, his aukat.. in a jiffy outside of the safe confines of PDF.

Dude..its a complicated game...no wonder its called double dealing and many of your uniforms minted millions out if it.

Russia-China-Pakistan initiative: Afghanistan`s last hope
The Moscow led initiative enjoys greater confidence and appeal among the stakeholders, including Afghanistan
April 13, 2017, 2:00 pm

General Saad Khattak

As the Russia China Pakistan led initiative on Afghanistan takes off tomorrow at Moscow with its third session, the war in Afghanistan is well in its 16th year, with hardly any visible optimism about the fate of this unfortunate country. The most mighty military organization on the surface of earth led by the sole super power equipped to the teeth with the most sophisticated armory that one can fathom looks humbled against the most poorly armed outfit, but exceptionally motivated and determined struggling to contest their country`s occupation.

Post 9/11 US led NATO's occupation while Al-Qaeda almost reduced to non-existence, the US raison d`etre of staying in Afghanistan stands on a morally weak pedestal. The Afghan Taliban have on numerous occasions spelt out clearly that it does not harbor any trans national agenda and are only struggling to rid their country of the unjust foreign occupation with a legitimate desire to run their country in accordance with the genuine aspirations of the Afghan people.

While US led NATO continued to engage the Taliban militarily, various efforts on the politico diplomatic fronts continued side by side cajoling, arm twisting, incentivizing and threatening the stakeholders for joining the negotiation process. These efforts beginning with the Bonn series in 2001, 2011 (Bonn 1 and 2) were supplemented and complemented by other such initiatives, like the Saudi initiative in 2008/2009, Afghan government versus Hizb-e-Islami Gulbadin group`s engagement beginning in 2008, the Maldives series meetings in 2010, the German sponsored Qatar initiative in 2010, and the US backed NATO initiative in which engaging with moderate Taliban was sanctioned by the Obama administration side by side reinforcing the military component for a surge to eliminate the Taliban leadership forcing them to come to the negotiating table. Unfortunately none of these efforts could achieve the desired results due to some fundamental differences like the status of Afghan constitution/government, withdrawal of occupation forces and conflicting interests of regional and extra regional players in Afghanistan.

With ISIS/Daesh physically appearing in Afghanistan`s adjoining provinces with Pakistan and its effective terrorist attacks within Afghanistan and Pakistan, the regional and neighboring countries including Russia and China can clearly assess the magnitude and potential of the looming threat transiting into their territories in a visibly short span of time, given the fragility of the Afghan government. In order to put a brake to the increasing politico economic ingress of both Russia and China into the region and having failed itself to stabilize Afghanistan, the US is suspected of injecting ISIS into this region for subsequent exploitation of Russian and Chinese vulnerabilities in Chechnya and Sinkiang respectively. To stall this new suspected US game plan Russia, China and Pakistan initiated, a trilateral process to explore possibilities for settling the Afghan imbroglio. Vehemently opposed by the US, NATO, Afghanistan and India for not having been consulted or invited, the process is heading for its third meeting at Moscow, with India, Iran and Afghanistan joining, while US stays away on the pretext of not having been consulted about its motives and agenda. Apparently, the Moscow led initiative enjoys greater confidence and appeal among the stakeholders including Afghanistan on account of following reasons.

One, sensing the physical threat of ISIS expanding to their soft underbellies both Russia and China are sincerely committed to lasting peace in Afghanistan. Two, as against US/West, these regional players are well conversant with the prevailing environment, hence are well taken by regional stakeholders. Three, with Central Asia`s most energy resources untapped and China aggressively committed to Afghanistan and the region economically, its interests in a peaceful Afghanistan are greater than any near and distant power. Four, both Russia and China would wish to see a reduction in the US presence and influence in the region given their own long term politico economic interests. Five, with poppy cultivation on the rise in Afghanistan during US occupation, Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan and Central Asian Republics consider their population badly impacted by the menace besides their countries used as conduits for smuggling into Europe. Six, the optimism displayed by the Afghan delegates after the previous session increases the hope for a positive outcome. Seven, by positively engaging Taliban and visibly addressing their genuine concerns, the major stakeholders are developing greater mutual confidence and seriousness towards a lasting settlement.

Besides facing serious setbacks militarily in Afghanistan, the US led diplomacy also consistently failed in reaching at a political and negotiated solution mainly for want of sincerity and credibility with the regional stake holders. It has now clearly dawned on the regional stakeholders that the key to the lasting solution lies with them and not the extra regional players. The China-Russia-Pakistan initiative is hence seen as a fresh ray of hope on the horizon. The US and its allies would do a great service to the international community in general and this region in particular if it puts its weight behind this new initiative. A positive approach will truly prove to be in line with US desire for attaining genuine respect worthy of its power and international stature

Three countries undermining Afghanistan progress that President Trump didn’t call out

President Trump delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan on Monday, saying he intends to hold its leaders to account for harboring militant groups responsible for perpetuating instability across the border in Afghanistan.

During a prime-time address to the nation, Trump said the United States would once more accelerate its longest military mission and bring renewed focus to achieving victory in Afghanistan.

“It is time for Pakistan,” the president declared, “to demonstrate its commitment to civilization, order and to peace.”

He declined, however, to similarly admonish three other regional powers which the United States views as complicit in undermining progress there: Russia, Iran and to a lesser extent China, which has a stake in Afghanistan's stability but shows little motivation to take a more active role in providing for its security.

Here's a look at each country's involvement in Afghanistan:

Russia

Since April, not long after he declared America's longest war a stalemate, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Nicholson, has voiced concern about Moscow's apparent effort to arm the Taliban. Those weapons include medium and heavy machine guns, officials have said, used to cut down Afghan troops in multiple southern provinces, including areas where U.S. military advisers and Special Operations forces are deployed.

U.S. officials have said that any country shipping weapons into Afghanistan would be in violation of international law. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis vowed to engage the Russians through diplomatic channels, hopeful that doing so would encourage them to halt their alleged meddling.

Russia has denied working with the Taliban, saying its interactions with the fundamentalist group that once ruled Afghanistan have been focused on encouraging it to make peace. Video published by CNN in July appears to contradict that.

Iran

Like Russia, Iran views Afghanistan as within its “sphere of influence,” as The Washington Post's Erin Cunningham characterized it earlier this year. Iranian operatives have been active in the west, where the two countries share a 500-mile border, as well as in the south.

Afghan government officials have indicated Iran and Russia appear to be coordinating, supplying weapons and training to the Taliban in an effort to create loyalty and promote unrest.

In a piece published this month, the New York Times' Carlotta Gall explored this burgeoning dynamic in considerable detail. Here's an excerpt:

Iran has conducted an intensifying covert intervention, much of which is only now coming to light. It is providing local Taliban insurgents with weapons, money and training. It has offered Taliban commanders sanctuary and fuel for their trucks. It has padded Taliban ranks by recruiting among Afghan Sunni refugees in Iran, according to Afghan and Western officials. …

Iran has come to see the Taliban not only as the lesser of its enemies but also as a useful proxy force. The more recent introduction of the Islamic State, which carried out a terrorist attack on Iran’s parliament this year, into Afghanistan has only added to the Taliban’s appeal.

China

Trump has been candid in his criticism of China for not doing more to help counter the provocative actions being taken by North Korea, whose leaders have threatened a nuclear attack against the United States. But his administration has said little about Beijing's comparatively minor contributions in Afghanistan.

China, as one observer notes, has “chosen to assume a minimalistic role in the security sector, refusing to get involved in direct military operations” but benefiting nonetheless from the U.S. and NATO presence there.

And as Military Times' Shawn Snow reported in March, Beijing is seen as something of a “freeloader” in Afghanistan, but there is growing evidence small numbers of Chinese security forces — there's disagreement as to whether they are military personnel or police units — have been deployed across the border to conduct counterterrorism patrols. China is concerned about Uighur militants who remain active in the region and have professed support for the Islamic State.

Since 2015 China has contributed some funding and combat equipment for the Afghan security forces. Still, its interests are primarily economic, focused on Afghanistan's natural resources and its potential to help connect China with other trade partners.

China was one of four countries, including Russia, Iran and Pakistan, that sent envoys to an Afghan summit in the spring — talks the United States refused to attend. And China was quick to show solidarity with ally Pakistan after Trump's remarks Monday.

A spokeswoman for China's foreign minister, speaking with the Reuters news agency Tuesday, conveyed Beijing's contentment with the U.S. continuing to do the heavy lifting.

What's most important from where the world meets Washington

“We hope,” the spokeswoman added, “the relevant U.S. policies can help promote the security, stability and development of Afghanistan and the region.”

Yes. As usual lot of tirades but the geopolitics are not as easy as to comprehend like watching Mz Universe.

Why is America responsible for the mess in Syria ?? I would say American inaction has caused the mess. If they had acted earlier Assad might be gone by now.

Iraq has per captia income 4 times that of Pakistan. Iraq is much better place than under Saddam

He is not from among the the South Africans who have been helping Pakistan , he deserves a kick up his back side.

There are good South Africans who have helped Pakistan defence industry then there are chutiya south africans , he is from the chutiya category.

Interestingly the south africans who have helped Pakistan defence industry are a bit of an outcast in their own country , keep that in mind
WEll I dont know what "chutiya" is, if i think it is a derogatory remark then it fits perfectly on your shoe very well.
If you cannot conduct yourself in dignified manner and come down to the street language, then it is valid to have you shamboked which is deserving.
Your planes have radio equipment with very specific technologies I was part of developing so kindly refrain from accusing me of wrong actions when you cannot even put any good technology together.
