What's new

Pakistan needs to focus & spend more on its education sector which is lagging behind.

You won't be the first genius to define this:

... and then realize that calling it Political Islam means you get to do everything the same, with the might of the State enforcing such whims, plus as a bonus, call anyone objecting to your shenanigans as being against Islam itself, to be flogged in public at your pleasure, for some light entertainment. Please meet the Great Mustachioed Satan General Zia. You may like him. :D

I hope you can grasp that elegantly simple ONE concept. :D
Lol, you’re blabbering and reaching. Trying to put words in my mouth. I have a definition of political Islam that it separate from this. That I believe that Pakistan should be an Islamic republic does not mean I support everyone else who does or even that I support dictators who push for their interpretation of whatever. Does not matter to me. I don’t say we should be an Islamic republic because of Zia- I say we should be an Islamic republic because of Jinnah and Iqbal. If you have a problem with that, take it up with them. Also feel free to revoke the objectives resolution or campaign against it.
BTW, equally curiously, there is something called separation of church and State in the US Constitution. You may have heard of it, I can only presume so. I wonder what that could mean? :D
Exactly. It doesn’t mean what you think. Secularism has different meanings. There is the French laicite and then there is American secularism. I am only interested in American secularism- and the American political experience starts its very first document by talking about a Creator and specifying His sacred rights for humans. How secular does that sound?

Also, American secularism, separation of church and state, only means that the state will not influence the church, not that the church will not influence the state. Some argue that this idea of “secularism” started with the Abbasids after their experience of the mihna against Ahmad ibn Hanbal. A Muslim experience.

So frankly, I don’t know how read up on this you are. But don’t care either I guess. I am happy to correct you where needed.

Also to be clear, because it seems this may go over your head, me explaining what I believe about American secularism does not mean I believe this should apply to Pakistan. Just that portions of American law and foundational laws are based on Islam

I say we should be an Islamic republic because of Jinnah and Iqbal.

Then I have no issues at all. Jinnah's Pakistan died in 1971. What we have now is Gen Zia's Pakistan. And what happens there can no longer effect me at all. I have the luxury of being a fair and honest observer, and I am content with that.

And for guy flying TWO Stars and Stripes, funny that "we" means Pakistan in your Freudian slip. Says it all. :D

So frankly, I don’t know how read up on this you are. But don’t care either I guess.

Then it is mutual. We are done, I guess. :D

Be an observer. I too am observing. And I will help Pakistan where I can. Clv.

Sitting in USA. Of course. Mighty comfortable, doing that, I suppose.
Right, just like you. And like Jinnah when he lost hope in the Pakistan movement for some time.

We are not the same. Clearly. You are a hypocrite, and I am not. Enough said. :D
The sign of hypocrisy is to not be able to hold a mirror and see your reflection. And also calling other people hypocrites.

Again, please take note of the fact that I did not call you a hypocrite- just expounded the signs of a hypocrite.

LOL. A hypocrite is the one who wants Pakistan to be an Islamic republic while they themselves enjoy the separation of religion and State in USA. That would make you the hypocrite. Clearly. :D

You’re too low IQ to get the argument then. Not a problem.

The entire culture including that within education is an antithesis to both knowledge and merit. Unless one revamps education entirely especially on the religious front which guides the overpopulation in Pakistan - there is no future for education in Pakistan.
There are some serious leverages available with tech. Tell us to to keep all their military aid, and instead provide live feed for MIT classrooms to Pakistani universities.

Right. The land that bans Youtube and Wikipedia at a fart's whim will allow anything remotely that. Sure. :D

This is a good point. First a number of courses in MIT are already available in their entirety online. Stanford and Harvard too. Pretty much the entire bachelors program for computer science for example.

We could totally leverage this in classrooms. Also programs like Khan academy. Can fill gaps in what we lack in our education frontier.
