FFX: Korea’s New Frigates

IMHO the South Koreans could offer a comparable ship at a very competitive price.
But would they also offer similar financial terms (long term financing) as the Chinese?

Western/US content in the SK frigates?

PN should scrap plans for more OHPs....
and should go for 3-4 type 54A!

A fleet of 9-10 ships is all we need!
4- f-22p
4- type 54A
1- OHP

nine ships is still a big improvement from six 35+ years old type 21!

and for subs
3- agosta 90B
3-4- yuan class subs!

PN would become a formidable force - small but effective enough to defend our coastline!

At any given time the numbers of PN defence requirements should be atleast..

14 Frigates: type 54A class F22p and or up graded version of F22P around 3500 tons
4 Corvettes: Turkish MILGEM.
15 missile boat: houbei class, The Type 037-II,
20 fast attack/ petrol boat
6 mine hunters.
14 Auxiliary ships

Submarines:
10 submarines: chinese Qing class, agosta 70, 90B

Naval aviation

18 Harbin Z-9EC anti-submarine warfare helicopters( based on ships)
14 Westland LYNX and Sea King Mk45
14 Lockheed P-3C Orion maritime surveillance/anti-submarine warfare aircraft/airborne early warning.
10 CASA/IPTN CN-235:maritime surveillance/anti-submarine warfare aircraft.
48 JF17/ Mirages for anti-ship attack aircraft.

the naval ssg should increase its size to a regiment level. The Pak Marines should increase its size to a corp level providing them inhance training on amphibious warfare, including the operation of landing craft; mountain warfare; and Arctic warfare like the UK royal marines OR FRENCH FOREIGN legions

the PN Alamgir is more of a petrol an anti smuggling ship, as it does not have an weapons except torpedos, so I would not count it as a combat ship.

MOST IMPORTANTLY ALL THIS IS VERY MUCH POSSIBLE WITH LITTLE CREATIVITY,ingenuity
JAZBA AND LESS FILLING OF THE POCKETS the billions of dollars that disappears every year should be invested on equipments an on the jawans salaries .....

This is only possible when we don't have leaders like Zardari.

Pakistan Navy to Commission fourth F-22P Frigate
Arabian Sea - Continuing to enhance its fighting capabilities and maintain the minimum deterrence, the Pakistan Navy would commission the fourth F-22P Frigate being built in collaboration with China and two latest fast attack craft within a year reported The News. The F-22P, a multi-mission conventionally-powered frigate, is being built at Pakistan Shipyard. Under the deal with China, the PNS Aslat (the name of sword) will be inducted by April 2013, said an official of Pakistan Navy during a briefing onboard PNS Shamsheer.

The deal involved four F-22P frigates, six Harbin Z-9EC helicopters (already delivered to Pakistan Navy) and ammunition for the frigates. The first of the frigates, PNS Zulifqar, was delivered in September 2009, second PNS Shamsheer in 2010 and the third PNS Saif was handed over to Pakistan Navy in February 2011. An official of the 18th Destroyer Squadron said that Pakistan Navy with the available strength was fully capable of defending the country’s coastal line effectively.

Vice Admiral (retd) Ahmed Tasneem who was commander of submarine ‘Hangor’, which destroyed India’s warship ‘Kukri’ in 1971 said although Pakistan Navy with minimum resources was maintaining higher professional standards but they needed to acquire more surface ships and submarines. The F-22P’s hull contains China’s type 054 frigate’s radar cross-section reduction, which helps prevent detection by radars mounted on other ships, aircraft and anti-ship missiles.

long trail period, being launched in 2011 and the inductions is being stated for 2013!
but thats for good!

Well sea trials do take time
Even Indian Shivalik class frigate went through 18 months sea trial
