Pakistan Navy considering buying warships from China, Turkey

One of the most likely candidates for the PN 's next ships acquisition maybe the modified C28A displayed at ExpoI DEAS this year. Based on the Chinese state news, equipped with a different type of more powerful propulsion system, it is larger than the original C28A exported to Algeria reaching 3900 tons. The combat system of this corvette includes:
enclosed integrated mast for radar and other electronics;
one 76 mm naval cannon main gun;
two type630 6-barrel 30 mm CiWS guns:
32 LY-80N medium range anti-air VLS;
8 cells of FL-3000N;
8 C-802A anti ship missiles;
one Z-9 helicopter.

If Pakistan can strike a tot deal and build this ship in great numbers, it maybe the answer to its rival navy as PK will have the cost and numbers advantage.

"cost and numbers advantage"? what would you think the cost would be? and how many ships do you think Pakistan can absorb?

India has the superior navy and air force as of now and the future, so I don't think 8 or even 16 of these would nullify that anytime soon.

India is 3 and a half times bigger then us, but its coastline is much larger

It is unfeasibly for us to match india on a individual basis

But we csn gradually keep increasing our strength and create a fearsome deterrence

Hence the 8 new AIP subs coming our way
Hence negotiations for new ships, Jets, Guns and continued expansion to our nuclear and missile programmes.

You don't always have to match your enemy just be able to considerably harm him if not destroy him

.
Many options from both countries are under consideration. While reading the statement by Navy Official, seems like it is going to be mix of both China-Turkey ships.

Maybe PN goes for type 57 from China and Corvettes from Turkey even 2-4 Frigates from Turkey with Corvettes

.
Be realistic
Defferent platform from defferent country will cause a lot of more investment than you know
The total cost is just like a ice mountain in the sea, most of people just see the small parts of ice moutain above the surface(the price of ship), can't see the large parts of cost under the water, for example the logistics, maintenance, munitions from the defferent platform.
Solution1: 2*052D/C+4*057+8*022+8*S20+X*F22P, but you need make sure with PLAN if 052D is avaliable for oversea market or not? with the coming of 055, maybe 052D is avaliable, but the PLAN requirement of 052D is very huge
This will be a formidable Navy in a very long time,with such a fleet,next time if india submarine intrude in pakistan water, they will kneel down just like the usa before iran
Solution2: Solutions with turkey
PN is not a large navy with a lot of budget, with the same amount of money,wish it can output the largest comat effectiveness
Sometimes, there need a change in our idea, weapon system purchase can not be window shopping

CPEC security: Navy mulls acquiring high speed missile boats for Gwadar Port’s security

Following the significance of CPEC project, the Pakistan Navy (PN) has initiated deliberations with China and Turkey to acquire a squadron of high speed missile boats to secure Gwadar port.

Talking to Business Recorder, an official, stood at Pakistan Navy’s stall at IDEAS-2016, said that the responsibilities of the PN had been increased after the announcement of CPEC project.

“Although two PN ships have presently been deployed at Gwadar, we have planned to deploy a special squadron of high speed missile boats to secure the Pakistan’s deepest port.

For the purpose, the deliberations have been initiated with China and Turkey. Replying to a question, the official said they were also working to get a share from the funds allocated for the security of the CPEC project to acquire a squadron of high speed missile boats.

He said that the PN had trained the officers from Saudi Arabia, Middle East, Sudan and Bangladesh and Ukraine and other central Asian countries had shown interest in this regard during the exhibition.

Meanwhile, an official, presented at the stall of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited (KS&EWL), said that the government was also planning to build shipyards at Gwadar and Port Qasim to meet the growing needs following the CPEC project.

He said that they were also manufacturing the Fleet Tanker (17000 ton) for the PN in collaboration with M/s STM of Turkey and added that the PN would replace its one of two Fleet Tankers acquired from Netherlands after this new one, which was expected to be inducted by the mid of next year.

He said that this Fleet Tanker would have a capacity to transport 8000 ton of fuel, 1000 ton of fresh water and other stuff.

The design of this ship, which is drafted by Turkey, is based on contemporary trends and is according to Bureau Veritas Rules for the Classification of Naval Ships and its construction by Pakistan’s skilled manpower at KS&EWL, manifested an excellent combination to achieve indigenization through joint ventures with brotherly countries.

This initiative will certainly open more opportunities for further co-operation between Pakistan and Turkey in the field of indigenous warship construction and other defence sector products, he maintained.

CPEC Security: China, Pakistan to deploy warships to safeguard Gwadar port

China will deploy its naval vessels in coordination with the Pakistan Navy to safeguard the Gwadar port in Balochistan and trade under a bilateral trade corridor, according to a media report on Friday.
Besides the joint deployment of warships, Pakistan is considering the purchase of super-fast vessels from China and Turkey for a special squadron to be positioned at Gwadar to secure the deep sea port, an unnamed Pakistan Navy official was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune.
“A squadron may have four to six warships,” the official said on the sidelines of the IDEAS 2016 defence exhibition in Karachi.
The super-fast vessels would be “bought soon” in view of their immediate need in the fleet and two warships had already been deployed at Gwadar, the official said.
The role of Pakistan’s maritime forces had increased since the country made Gwadar operational and expedited up economic activities under the $46-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the official said.
India has for long expressed concerns about the Chinese Navy’s involvement in the Gwadar port, which is at the heart of the CPEC.
The Tribune quoted another unnamed naval official as saying that Pakistan has kicked off the process of establishing the region’s largest shipyard at Gwadar. A similar ship-building project is being considered for Port Qasim in Karachi.
The two advanced shipyards will design and develop ships and other security equipment for the Pakistan Navy.
“The existing shipyard, the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, lacks capacity to meet new requirements of the force. Its (PNSC) performance, however, would improve in competition with the two under consideration,” he said.
The PNSC will hand over a large fleet tanker being built in collaboration with Turkey to the Pakistan Navy.

The Indian sub has given the perfect alibi for the Chinese Navy's assertive presence at one of the most crucial shipping lanes of the world. Pak must be thanking Modi, Doval etc. And, President-elect Trump is making it clear as long as the white folks in the USA are OK he doesn't care...

The article speaks about high speed missile boats for now..they are for quick interception.. Frigates and corvettes will also come after this priority.. Chinese ships will make up for these for a little while..
Why no one here expects the making of the next generation J-31 in Pakistan in a similar deal as the JF-17?

Do you think its possible?

More than possible.. If you have been following the developments, it is quite clear that Pakistan was the only country expressing its interest in the J-31, even with numbers around 40, that might be off the shelf but most probably with Pakistani Engineers and technicians training in China on the first batch while preparing facilities in Pakistan to make another 40 or 60 to make it a total of let's say 100 J-31v2.. this will motivate other nations to procure it in the same pattern as the JF-17 did..
Joining Turkey's TFX will be beneficial too but on a different level.. TFX might be something more like the US F-22, since Turkey will be getting its F-35s from the US..

Pakistan will need either SU-35, J-16 or the J-20 for deep strike roles, J-31 will replace the 100 more JF-17 that was scheduled to be 250 before the appearance of the J-31.. now they will be 150 JF-17 (upgraded to block 3 standard with AESA, IRST and other advanced electronics) plus 100 J-31 stealth fighters/ read next generation fighters..

Maybe not the J-16, but who knows if Russia is offered a cut on it buy China, let's say a few millions for each one it sells!
J-20 is a good possibility by 2025 or even before, that depends on CPEC..if not sold to Pakistan, some might be stationed near Guadar port..

India P-8I can find and kill submarines and surface vessels.

If India were to also acquire mothballed S-3 Vikings then this would be even more of an advantage for India

The P-8I can try to find and kill subs no system is infallible and the more assets we have the more we can take them on

If you look at recent news with Russia getting involved with CPEC and more chinese naval assets n Pakistani waters and Arabian Sea alot of deals are big struck to ensure the security of Gwader
