Pakistan Navy considering buying warships from China, Turkey

Pakistan's long-term planning should be to establish more shipyards in Gwader and Pasni.
Once we have this capability, we can build these ships in Pakistan, and be able to work on multiple projects at the same time.

Pakistan's economic situation doesn't allow Pakistan to spend too much on naval ships, but we must protect Gwadar and other ports in Pakistan.
I think Pakistan should go toward large numbers of smaller surface ships, for example, patrol boats,Fast Attack Craft, Corvette, and Frigate. if we can afford it, then we should try heavier Frigate/destroyer, for example, Turkish TF-2000 program.Chinese option is Typer 52C/52D and Typer 055.

Pakistan needs 10 missile boats, Pakistan should go for Type 022 missile boat [224 ton full loaded with eight C-803 Anti-ship (range 350+ km) missiles]. Chinese needs to find a space to install RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile on this boat for better air defense.

6 to 10 Fast Attack Craft- FAC [500-750 Tons] (Azmat Class or better) with all VLS capability for launching AShM/Cruise Missiles and Torpedoes Launchers.

*6 to 8 Corvette [1500-2500] with all VLS capability for launching AShM/Cruise Missiles and Anti Air missiles.

*8-10 Frigate [3500-4500 Tons] with all VLS capability for launching AShM/Cruise Missiles and Anti Air missiles.



Turkish option might be little more expensive but it's a better option.

Let's also look at Chinese option Type 052C and Type 052D.

Acquiring Surplus Ships might not be a bad idea.

Type 23 Frigate (HMS Argyll,HMS Lancaster and HMS Iron Duke) might be available from UK, decommission probably between 2018-2022.

D'Estienne d'Orves-class aviso from Turkey, decommission probably between 2018-2022.

Cassard class, Georges Leygues class from France, decommission probably between 2018-2022.

Göteborg-class corvette from Swedish Navy, decommission probably between 2018-2022.

Santa María class from Spain, decommission probably between 2018-2022.

I am pretty sure PN wants to buy bigger & advance navy ships from China & Corvettes from Turkey. This was the reason why both countries Navy ships visited Pakistan so that our navy can study both ships.

I disagree. China is able to build the whole warship without a single component source from different countries. It will cut down complicated integration and political string. China is a proven sophisticated warship builder with experience of building AESA radar and universal VLS missile launcher and her own main gun.

You can ask anyone and if no one answers, just ask me..I'm not an expert but I can help you with a thing or two especially if you want to know the scientific and engineering aspect things ...I'm not one of those geniuses and experts who know many weapon systems by heart but I can explain how a system works..if you are interested..

With warship already mention needed to guard CPEC port. That means surely a long range deep strike interceptor fighter jet squadron is also needed? (Hint: Su-35)

Most Likely old EFT from ITALY or SPAIN. That is the only way EJ200 would be available for JF-17.

Pakistan needs to reciprocate and buy more Turkish warships since Turkey bought 52 super mushak, especially be part of their destroyer programs. Turkey is already selling us corvettes and upgrading Agosta submarines, it should also be involved in installing subsystems for 8 Chinese subs we are buying, if Turkish AIP is manufactured by then, it should also be considered. Simultaneously Pakistan should also pursue Chinese destroyer options, diverse sources of defence equipment with add lethal offensive capabilities to our navy which we need to protect our SLOC's especially in the backdrop of CPEC becoming operational.
In future alongside chinese , Turkey should also be given preference for investment and for refuelling their ships in Gwadar , which they can use since they have a base in Qatar and can increase anti piracy patrols in Gulf of Aden to increase their influence in Greater Indian Ocean region. This way there will be another friendly naval presence alongside Pak and Chinese navy to neutralize India's hegemonic ambitions for greater Indian ocean region, especially in the backdrop of the fact China-Turkey signed strategic agreement and Turkey seeks to join SCO.

Turkey invested alot especially in my city Lahore, all major infrastructure projects, transportation, waste management and dolphin police force (based on Istanbul's dolphin force) show the significant influence Turkey has on this historical city. Now a MOU has been signed for contracting out government hospital administration to Turkish companies to increase the quality of their services.
