Pakistani's let's not look at the Afghanistan through the Indian prism. Who the hell are they? We have geography intertwined with Afghans. Afghan's largest ethnic group Pashtuns number almost 28 million in Pakistan. So we will sort our affairs out in the long run.

We have millions of Afghans living in Pakistan most of whom do not want to go back. Do not take seriously what PM Ghani said iin Delhi. He has to milch them, that is his job but the central relationship between us and Afghans is going to be decided by our shared geography and history.

Anyway, Ghani is going out on a limb trying to appease Rawlapindi to get them to rein in the Talibs. So far all they've got are attacks.........more attacks.............and still more attacks. One of their city is under siege. You'll have to show results and show them fast or its back to Karzai era relashun.
Of course you still win if the Talib returns; then you can claim you've got Afghanistan back and it would be back to pre-9/11 era relashun but don't think that just because the US is withdrawing its boots that it will change its interests. Not having a terrorist breeding ground espeshally one that can breed terrorists capable of 9/11 is still a vital interest for which they will commit aerial assets as they now seen to be doing.

Demanding “sovereign equality”, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said Pakistan must allow his country direct access to India through Wagah border in Lahore.

At present, Pakistan allows Afghan trucks carrying goods meant for India only up to its last checkpoint at Wagah and not to the Indian checkpoint at Attari which is just less than a kilometer away.

Ghani, in an exclusive interview to Indian newspaperThe Hindu, warned that if the deadlock continues, Afghanistan will not provide equal transit access to Central Asia for Pakistani trucks.

The Afghan president, who is in India on his first state visit, said Pakistan must accept the “national treatment” clause agreed to in the Afghanistan Pakistan Transit and Trade Agreement (APTTA), signed in 2011, which gives each country equal access up to the national boundaries of both.

On Tuesday, Ghani met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called for regional cooperation to defeat violent extremist groups.

The Afghan president said the Islamic State has challenged countries from “India to Russia” and that the regional countries must united to end the menace.

Ghani said the IS threat was different from that posed by groups such as the Taliban, which wanted to “overthrow the state”.

“Now the prize is not the state, it is destruction. Our territory is being made the battleground. Our people are being killed brutally to show a spectacle. We all need to mobilise as a region,” he said.

He, however, denied downplaying threat from groups such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, saying the “drivers have changed”.

On topic: seems like a legitimate thing to do , we must increase our trade with India . Nothing wrong in giving Afghanistan access to India , it will only help Afghanistan grow stronger . To be honest i think it might just become possible in coming times . A better bond of trust needs to be created between the two countries (India-Pakistan) .

Actually,India-Afghanistan has borders as well(106 km long),which region is now in Pakistan occupied Kashmir...But for now,They need Pakistan's permission to reach Wagah.

I certainly hope so. Whoever got us into SAARC needs shooting. We already had a 'ready made' SAARC in 1947 called British India and millions died when we broke free.

It has always flabbergasted me why undo something and then try to sort of haf reverse it. Hell to SAARC anyway. What good is a economic body when half of it is out to destroy us [ India ] and the other half is in direct competition with you economically [ Bangladesh ].

Afghanistan can unilaterally cancel APTTA since Pakistan will not allow Indian exports to pass through Pakistan. Afghanistan exports to India do pass overland through Pakistan to India. Afghanistan does trade with all other countries through Pakistan. The Chahbahar port in Iran and the highway to Afghanistan is solely for Indian exports to Afghanistan.

I've seen a transcript of the interview on one of the sites and I didn't see anything Pro Pakistan. Do you have the reference to support your claim?
