Pakistan must allow Afghanistan direct trade access to India through Wagah: Ghani

Ghani should focus his time on pushing India to make peace with Pakistan.
You've got that the wrong way around. Pakistan is the one who has started (and lost) four wars with India and is actively engaging in a proxy war against India to this day.

Pakistan, of course, will never allow this initiative to happen as they see it as their job to be India's antithesis and stunt any such initiatives where possible. You see it in SAARC, you see it with the IPI pipeline and you see it with the MFN issue. Pakistan always has to play spoiler even if it comes at its own expense.

India and Pakistan could do great things on the economic front but you and your mullahs (and the industrialists who like the monopoly they have on your economy) will never allow it.

That's a funny offer. This is Afghanistan asking you to give it access to India if you want access to central asia. Pakistan has no ability to give access to central asia on its own, it's merely one of the countries. Without Afghanistan, Pakistan itself has no access to central asia.

Btw, get rid of this silly notion in your head that anyone in India will negotiate on Kashmir to get access to central asia. That will never happen,

Wrong Pakistan can fine manage to get to Central Asia without Afghanistan.

To Kazakhstan, Tadjikistan and Kyrgistan and Russia Pakistan can go via China.

To Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Russia again Pakistan can go via Iran :-)

I don't care what how you spin the truth the fact remains Afghanistan needs Pakistan and India for them to trade.

Pakistan for 4 years has pushed for sincere peace and it has not been reciprocated. It is up to India to come forward and make peace if it wants to see Afghanistan prosper.

If India is not prepared for this then lets all watch Afghanistan die and its all because of India.

What "sincere peace" has Pakistan pushed and with whom?

If India is not prepared for this then lets all watch Afghanistan die and its all because of India.

Hilarious.

You accuse me of "spinning" the truth when we all know the reason Afghans are dying is because of PAKISTAN and its active support of terrorists inside Afghanistan and harbouring them on Pak soil. Remind me again where the world's most wanted terrorist was found? Remind me where the leader of the Taliban continues to reside to this day?

Blaming India (who has almost no real say on Afghanistan's affairs) for the issues inside Afghanistan is beyond stupid.

Whats beyond stupid is your failure to recognise the lack of effort from Indian government.

Just read this thread as an example.

Pakistan India peace - What are benefits?

Indians clearly do not want peace and are so neurotic they would let a fellow country in the region burn because of their hate.

My friend you are the problem.

sometime after reading your post it seems you have a brain of ant. Pathetic explanation.:hitwall::hitwall:

Why Do you think is? Is it because your country sent terrotists to slaughter 166 innocent lives in an Indian city in 2008? You Pakistanis have such a selective approach to history. Prior to 2008 India and Pakistan were making decent progress towards peace it was PAKISTAN that disrupted the process by sending those boys into Mumbai, what do you expect? India to just absorb the blow and continue as if nothing has happened?

Indians clearly do not want peace and are so neurotic they would let a fellow country in the region burn because of their hate.

And yet it is YOUR nation that is burning as India is relatively peaceful and prosperous. Why should India want peace with a nation that has been the aggressor in four wars now and continues to fight an asymmetrical conflict with India causing yet more suffering to India?

Painting Pakistan as whiter than whiter and a nation that is full of purely peace-loving people is so absurdly disingenuous that it makes me wonder if you have any idea what you are talking about or are simply repeating BS propaganda you have heard from other Pakistanis.

India is using Chahbahar and Iranian highway to trade with Afghanistan. Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) covers all the transit issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan including Pakistan access to Central Asia.

Actually Chahbahar Port is not operational yet and its not economically feasible for Indians to use that route to access Afghanistan.

And as far as Afghanistan, not allowing Pakistani trucks to access Central Asia, is indeed a statement for Indian audience consumption. Afghanistan's entire access is via Pakistan and they cannot afford to piss off Pakistanis even 1% when it comes to land access/transit etc stuff. Pakistanis hardly accessing Central Asia market anyways.

If India wants their goods passing through Pakistan than they should have deal with Pakistani Govt over Dam(s) issues in Kashmir.

I read this
"Pakistan allows Afghan trucks carrying goods meant for India only up to its last checkpoint at Wagah, and not to the Indian checkpoint at Attari, less than a kilometre away."
Now if that is true then it really doesn't make sense. Wagah-Peshawar-Torkham route which roughly is prolly the shortest possible route between India and Afghanistan, which would greatly reduce the logistics cost of shipping goods from India to Afghanistan. I hope Pakistan agrees to Afghan and India's demands.
Rock on . i meant spot on.

Signalling that Afghanistan is upset with Pakistan over its refusal to allow direct trade with India via the Wagah border, President Ashraf Ghani says that if the deadlock continues, “We will not provide equal transit access to Central Asia for Pakistani trucks.
”Mr. Ghani, who was in India on his first state visit, told The Hindu in an exclusive interview that it was a question of “sovereign equality”, and Pakistan must accept the “national treatment” clause agreed to in the Afghanistan Pakistan Transit and Trade Agreement (APTTA), signed in 2011, which gives each country equal access up to the national boundaries of both.

At present, Pakistan allows Afghan trucks carrying goods meant for India only up to its last checkpoint at Wagah, and not to the Indian checkpoint at Attari, less than a kilometre away.On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India was keen on a trade agreement with Afghanistan that would include India in the APTTA.
On Wednesday, Mr. Ghani met representatives of Indian chambers of commerce and leading businessmen, who expressed similar problems with land trade.

Making a strong call for India and the rest of the region to unite against the Islamic State, or Da’esh, which he said had challenged countries from “India to Russia”, Mr.Ghani said the IS threat was different from that posed by groups such as the Taliban, which wanted to “overthrow the state”.

“Now the prize is not the state, it is destruction. Our territory is being made the battleground. Our people are being killed brutally to show a spectacle. We all need to mobilise as a region,” he said. He denied downplaying the threat from Pakistan-based groups such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, saying the “drivers have changed”.
