Pakistan and India will play in a Twenty20 fundraiser for victims of the attacks on the Sri Lanka cricket team, the International Cricket Council said on Friday.

The rivals will play the match at The Oval on June 3 in a warm-up for the World Cup that starts on June 5.

"The (ICC) Board wanted to do something to assist the families of the victims of the terror attacks on the Sri Lanka team and match officials in March, and using this high-profile match with a sell-out crowd as a vehicle to do that makes excellent sense," ICC president David Morgan said in a statement.

Several Sri Lankan players and team officials were injured when gunmen attacked their team bus in Lahore on March 3 _ the third day of the second test _ and killed six police officials and a van driver.

"The attack in Lahore was a terrible shock and we have immense sympathy for all those who were affected by the incident," Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt said.

"The PCB provided support to the families of the victims immediately after the attack and it is encouraging to see the rest of the cricket world coming together in this way."

India defeated Pakistan in the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007. The defending champion opens its defense of the title in Group A along with Bangladesh and Ireland. Pakistan's opponents in Group B are host England and the Netherlands.

Silly beings. Initially crying about India not including them into the CT tournament. Also, making hue and cry about India being involved in the WC venue saga. Now, they want to play a fund-raiser game with their enemies. Dimwitted people! Well, don't cry when the enemy stabs you in the back. I'm not going to support the PCB stance any more. Hypocrites of the first order.
