Shale gas reserves always sound good on paper.
But a proper assay has to be done regarding a) its quality and b) the feasibility of extraction + impact
I suspect that there is some spanner in the works regarding either or both of these issues w.r.t the Pakistan deposit given that I have come across this estimate (along with the Thar coal one) for quite some years now....and no one is really that interested in pursuing it any further.
Pakistan has sweet shale, meaning that it has one of the best quality. Amount of reserves are shallow, meaning it can easily be extracted but still - Pakistan does not have enough money to extract it, China will most likely provide money in return for share. Balochistan is a has ALOT of resources and is barely explored yet.
Dry shale blocks on the surface is a common sight in south of Indus and west Balochistan just like it was in Saudi Arabia- that means there is alot deposits.Do you have a source for this being the case? Also does it apply to the whole 10k tcf total estimate?
(Off topic)
Be aware, of USA. They'll soon declare you Terrorist State(because u have oil) and might help u to setup peace by sending 20-30k soldiers.
Be Aware
India itself has far bigger shale resources, problem is Policy, Technology, will, Investment and skillIf all that oil becomes available
Then the price of crude will fall down to 25 USD and the House of Saud will be begging Mariam Sharif's Great grand Kids for a bailout package
It could even improve India Pak relations
Coz every India Government wishes for cheap oil to balance its books

Good news for everyone accept Saudi'sPakistan has massive deposits of 10,159 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of shale gas and 2.3 trillion barrels of oil – estimates that are several times higher than figures given by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), reveals a study conducted with the help of US Agency for International Development (USAID).

CongsAre you crazy?
But instead of getting focus on it focus should be on nonrenewable energy ,solar, wind etc If you use all the shale resource them self you them self finished yourself only becauseof there pollution effects. Are you crazy?
