Yes, soldiers are also the servant of the country for they are paid. Anybody who is paid through the tax payer's money is a servant of the nation. This is the 'professional' way of looking at things and obviously beyond your comprehension.

There is no comparison between a soldier and an athlete -- even if both are paid by the taxpayers. I do not take offense easily, but I have too much respect for Pakistani servicemen and servicewomen to let this pass. The comparison is outright insulting, not just to Pakistani military members, but to any who ever served in any military of any country.

The soldier in sworn service is a 'servant' only in the sense that his (this includes the ladies) actions and life are for a cause greater than self, whether the duration is a few yrs or a lifetime. The salary is out of respect and a physical appreciation of/for a sacrificial life. It is also practical in that no matter how noble we want to make military service to be, we have to support the soldier somehow. If the soldier is a 'servant', he is that to the country, which includes the land, the people, the resources, and all the accumulated capital so far. He is also morally obligated to put his body and life in front of all those things. Who created such a position and its moral burdens ? YOU did. WE all did, when we declare ourselves a people and stake out a portion of the Earth that we declared our own.

A soldier's pay is not to be held over his head as some sort of threat of withdrawal to induce him to do something to please. Rather, it should be offered with both hands and with sadness that such a position must be created in order for a people to live with reasonable security.

i dont see why we should allow goras to coach our team why not use seasoned cricket veterans from our own country instead

This thought towards a soldier I am afraid needs revisiting ,

Soldiers fight for a variety of reason - Loyalty to the nation, Izzat / respect of their regiment , tradition etc are only some of them.

Most definitely not for the salary. No one would willingly put himself in harms was for the salary alone.This is too shallow a thought.

The profession of arms is way above financial remuneration.

I dont think you would get any good fielding coach in subcontinent.Goras with their methodological and a more scientific approach towards training are hands down better than subcontinental fielding coaches.

This is exactly the reaction that some of the yesteryear Pakistani players had warned about. It's PCB's responsibility to make sure that the professionalism in the team is maintained. If PCB keeps taking the Pakistani fans for granted, it risks loosing them completely. The world cricket will only be poorer by loosing the Pakistani fans.
