Number of reasons ...Historic love with what was once the best multirole fighter ... existing facilities & set up ... a lot of experience n flying hours on falcons ... relatively low cost solution compared to EFT, rafael, f15s ....Why are PAF obsessed with F16's? Aren't they a bit old? What is so special about an F16?
Basically, if India has already decided to not include Russia in some large-scale contract or bid, hence giving Russia nothing to lose by extending a loan to Pakistan and selling it planes. Can you please elaborate @bold?
Bilal u see any juice in this news we definitely need a bigger plane with F16 s chances r getting remote day by day. Why not start induct them like Mi35 small badges.Basically, if India has already decided to not include Russia in some large-scale contract or bid, hence giving Russia nothing to lose by extending a loan to Pakistan and selling it planes.
24 to 30 new Su 35 r around 2 billions that not big amounts when compare with any western jet today.Number of reasons ...Historic love with what was once the best multirole fighter ... existing facilities & set up ... a lot of experience n flying hours on falcons ... relatively low cost solution compared to EFT, rafael, f15s ....
with these kind of rumors every 6 months and in 2 years time, the Indian will be 100% more darker then they already are
IMO there's no Pakistani posturing. It's a lot simpler than that ... in 2016, IHS Jane's said the PAF had a requirement of 30-40 twin-engine fighters for deep-strike and to shore-up its maritime operations assets.Su-35 is a heavy ticket item and with the new Indian tender (yet again); it is posturing.
Pak is trying to show that it has this option and it becomes a bargaining chip to squeeze US planes (may be but unlikely as long as TIT is in power).
I frankly don’t care much for the flankers- the chinese make suitably good variants of their own.The issue for Pakistan isn't cash (because it doesn't have any), but whether Russia is willing to extend a line-of-credit to back a Su-35 deal (and other arms). It ultimately falls unto how much risk Russia is willing to absorb to get a few regions some manufacturing work. IMO the only way it can happen is if India has already done something to alleviate Russia's risk.
