Pakistan Day Celebrated In NASDAQ

BTW what he is talking about would appear in FII flows not FDI flows. Do you have those numbers somewhere?

Not on me. It's hard to determine FII as some investments are indirect, but it's nothing close to $300 billion claim.

NEW YORK - The Pakistani Ambassador to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi on Thursday rang the closing bell at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange in New York to signal the end of trading for the day on Wall Street at an impressive ceremony that marked Pakistan's 70th Independence Day.

"We are open to business, and we are open to foreign investment," she told businessmen, traders and investors gathered at the ceremony held in NASDAQ's office in New York's Time Square.

"Pakistan is on the upsurge; Pakistan is on the rise," she said at the Pakistan flag-bedecked NASDAQ building in New York's Time Square from the platform of the Pakistan-American Business Association (PABA).

The event was carried live on a giant screen overlooking the crowded iconic square as well as by major American television networks on their economic and financial segments.

"I am glad that NASDAQ today has gone green with the Pakistani flag," Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, herself dressed in green, said before pressing the button to set off the bell.

In her remarks, she said that Pakistan's economy was on the upswing as it pursues the "most investor-friendly" policies in the region.

"Our economy has achieved an impressive turnaround and is poised for rapid growth," the Pakistani envoy said.

Economic stability had been achieved by an enabling environment of democratic consolidation and security gains.
Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves were up, inflation down and overseas remittances at record high.

"Our demographic profile of a youthful population gives Pakistan the ability to make a quantum leap in its development," Maleeha Lodhi said.

"We are embarked firmly on the path of realising our vision to turn Pakistan into a regional hub, connecting the different regions it straddles by providing trade, energy and communications corridors."

She also read out a special message from Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, stating," Pakistan has bright future powered by its hard-working people and a resilient democracy."

Earlier, Andew Hall, a top NASDAQ official, introduced Maleeha Lodhi and congratulated the government and people of Pakistan on the Independence Day.

The Chairman of PABA, M. Siddique Sheikh, and an active member of the body, Sajjad Qamar, were among those present at the ceremony, which was also attended by Pakistan Consul General Raja Ali Ejaz.

Qamar said PABA serves as a bridge between Pakistan and the United States in promoting business and economic ties.

@waz @Slav Defence @Irfan Baloch @WebMaster @Horus : Guys, I know we aren't supposed to post videos, but these are very important to the thread. If you don't like, please delete:

Look at the Green flag on all screens inside NASDAQ, small on the podium or outside on the big time square screens. This is what I am talking about. A HUGE deal for Pakistan's economic growth and future investments from the US!! These Videos were presented at NASDAQ and on Time Square screens for millions to see over two days in NYC :usflag::pakistan:

That's nice, now I hope those in charge of Pakistan can at least copy the American work ethic.

Not just in charge.....the entire nation has to show that work ethic. A few rulers doing that, while a nation acts lazy, doesn't do anyone good. Nation adopts a work ethic and leaders automatically follow it or are kicked out and new ones are found.

So much progress in three years didn't come in by a miracle, the ruling party has worked their rears off to make these things happen. Now the nation has to follow through, work hard and grow this foundation put in by the current government.
