Pakistan CANNOT "conquer Kashmir through war" : Hina Rabbani Khar

Is she a dimwit, a traitor or both?

1.) We are not going to "win" Kashmir through dialogue either. What needs to be done is an international diplomatic offensive highlighting the UNSC resolution and pushing the need for a referendum. This will at least keep India a little nervous.

2.) The US is not "moving towards India" because of India's democratic tradition. The US has no problem dealing with dictators. The US is simply propping India up as a counter-weight to China's inevitably growing influence in the region.

3.) It's rather hypocritical to say that Zia did the wrong thing by helping the US post the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan; but Mush simply had "no choice." There is always a choice -- it just comes with consequences.

BTW, one of the real aims of supporting the insurgency in Occupied Kashmir was to keep a large portion of the Indian Army engaged/deployed there. In talks with numerous military/ISI officials, they always seem to suggest that this has been achieved.

"I believe that Pakistan cannot conquer Kashmir through war and if we cannot do that

Wonder which "War" she is referring to ...... The or the "Proxy War" or the one like 48/65????

"In 60 years, we have taught our children that our national identity is to hate someone, and we are doing it with those who are physically the nearest.

A bold statement......

A sane mind would suggest that Pakistan forget about Kashmir and concentrate on its internal issues, Daesh and other foosies are knocking on its western borders, A great power game is ongoing where powers are re-aligning themselves, and Pakistani leaders would do better if they do not get Pakistan to become cannon fodder again in the big power struggles.

Liberate is the word. Obviously her mentality is such that she accepts Bharat's administration as correct otherwise she would not use such a word: what sincere leaders Pakistan has (!) However I don't think Pakistan can militarily liberate Kashmir; diplomacy must be used.
Coming to Pakistani identity being built upon hatred...I have not been brought up with this (granted that I was not born nor grew up there) but neither have my extended kith and kin who are still in Pakistan. Is she supporting indirectly a narrative which is denigrating Pakistani identity?

USA could not conquer Afghanistan through the war.
USSR could not conquer Afghanistan through the war.
USA and EU could not conquer Syria through the war.
But India will can't control Kashmir by force too. It is fact.

The average American did not think Afghanistan was a part of the US. The Soviets did not think Afghanistan was part of the USSR. The US and EU don't think Syria belongs to them. Pretty much every Indian thinks Kashmir is part of India. People put pressure on their own Governments to fight wars on foreign shores. India will not cede an inch on the territory its citizens believe belongs to them. Like how the UK went to war over the Falklands even if the US refused to side with them.

There exists military balance between India and Pakistan, especially between the ground forces stationed in and around the likely war theater (Plains of Punjab, deserts of Sindh, and Mountains of Kashmir).

The ratio of standing ground forces in these regions is less than 1:2, and for any invasion you need atleast 1:3 in terms of overall manpower, weapons, and resources.

Americans with their F-22's make these ratios irrelevant in case of countries like Iraq, Afghanistan etc because the technological difference is unspeakable.

However, both India and Pakistan have similar war technologies, training regimes, and organization (irrelevant of what fanboys here would like us to believe).

In such a scenario, no country can wage a full-fledged war on the other side without taking significant losses. And this is just conventional forces...I haven't even brought up the nuclear factor yet.

So neither can India nor Pakistan can take full Kashmir via military conquest (it's not whether you "want" to do it. Irrelevant of what both countries "want", they just don't have the military capacity to do so).
Shame you were not around to point this our during Operation Grand Slam / Gibraltar or during the suicidal Kargil move by Pak leaders.

Jail these cunts for a long, long time.

That is why the bleeding the invaders to dry is the only option. It will be slowly and gradual, but at the end, it will be worth it. If Azad Kashmir is any indicator, Indian Occupied Kashmir with be united with Azad Kashmir soon. :D

I can understand if English is not your first language. Gussa toh naahin ha raha hai? :D

Pakistan economy will bleed no more thank to CPEC, but Pakistan will continue to bleed Indian army even if takes 100 years. You cannot separate Indian Occupied Kashmir from Azad Kashmir. They belong with each other, and most importantly, they belong to Pakistan. So, the bleeding may not achieve its mission overnight, nonetheless it will still continue to bleed Indian army as long as it can. :D

Amusing to see Pak's obession with CPEC. It is as if Pakistan is Alibaba, China is the Genie and CPEC is the cave filled with riches which will open with the words "Open Sesame".

'We cannot conquer Kashmir through war'

ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Sunday said Pakistan cannot "conquer Kashmir through war" and progress on the issue can only me made in an environment of mutual trust with India.

"I believe that Pakistan cannot conquer Kashmir through war and if we cannot do that, the option we are left with is dialogue, and dialogue can only proceed with a partner with which we have normal relations and a certain level of mutual trust," Khar said in an interview with Geo News.

She claimed that the PPP government, despite being a coalition government, had tried its best to normalise ties with India through relaxation of visa rules and by normalising trade ties.

"The issues between the two countries cannot be resolved in a hostile environment."

Khar, who remained Pakistan's foreign minister from 2011 to 2013, maintained that the Kashmir issue can be resolved "if we continue to talk on the issue, then we will reach somewhere".

Answering a question regarding the military's influence on Pakistan's foreign policy, she said that it is a diplomat's job to carry forward the military's perspective on issues where the military is a relevant stake holder.

Khar stated some people believe that the issue can only be resolved "if there is a BJP government in India and a military government in Pakistan".

Khar observed that Musharraf gave India adequate relaxation on the Kashmir issue during his tenure.

'US tilt towards India driven by economy'

When asked about the recent downturn in Pak-US ties and the US' tilt towards India, the former foreign minister said the US tilt towards India is driven by economy, market and because of a wish to contain the rising power of China.

"Now let us ask ourselves, is US moving towards India because India is a nuclear state, or because it is a military power, no, it is people power and their democratic traditions, if we want to compete, lets compete on these grounds," said Khar.

The former foreign minister also termed Pakistan's entry into Afghan Jihad a 'mistake' and maintained that Pakistan's dependence on US is more in "our minds than on the ground".

She termed it as Zia's mistake for helping the US in the 80s, and added Musharraf had no option when it came to helping the US in 2001.

'Foreign office or political office'

Criticising the approach and the performance of ministry of foreign affairs, she asked if the foreign office has turned into a political office.

"The foreign office is busy nowadays in apprising the nation about some country's leader sending flowers to the prime minister or inquiring about his health," said Khar.

Khar maintained that Pakistan's current foreign policy is "reactive and not active" as Pakistan is not taking its own line or direction but is only reacting on the circumstances arising in the region or world at large.

"In 60 years, we have taught our children that our national identity is to hate someone, and we are doing it with those who are physically the nearest. Hostile with India and now hostile with Afghanistan," said the former foreign minister.

Summing up her answer, she maintained that the basic objective of Pakistan's foreign policy should be to serve the people of the country and not the pursuit of power.
