Pakistan army warns PM of 'grievous consequences'

Fingers crossed this will be quick and bloodless. Otherwise, USA is doubtless preparing some evil plan to "secure Pakistan's nuclear arsenal from terrorists." Why are indians so interested in this? Are they planning a cold start to coordinate with USA? :undecided:
we are ... we just took it out of fridge.. wating to defrost.. :-)

The question is 'why are they not worthy'.

The answer is, 'You guys never gave your politicians the time and chance to become mature enough and learn the ways of democracy.'

This is what happens when you believe that the Army is a magic wand.

yeah! as per your (ill)logic!

If an army coup takes place in Pakistan, the situation will only get worse. Pakistan has only lost world's trust after 26/11, Osama hiding etc. All the progress and growth going on will come to a stop as Army will only focus on its interests and strategies against India and US. In conclusion, Pakistan is doomed to failure once Army gains control of the country, like North Korea.

.
Don't worry. There is not going to another direct military coup this time. The Army did not dare declare a 'Martial Law' even in 1999; and this is 2012. This time there are no takers for the military rule except a few keyboard warriors in the Pakistani blogspace. Dudes: I have seen the Fall of Dhaka, the coups of 1977, the ones in 1990, 1993, 1997, 1999... I know how the 'Deep State' of Pakistan works. The 'Security State' and its Rightwing, short-sighted apologists in the blogspace and the media. But this time--thanks to the WOT and a mass-awareness--even the military is not going to dare to mount a direct coup.

PS. I will respond to the others in that thread from yesterday. Just have been very busy. The bottom line remains: Pakistani Senate election in barely a few weeks.

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan's army warned Wednesday of "grievous consequences" for the country over criticism by the prime minister that has ramped up tensions between the military and civilian leadership.

The row centres on an ongoing Supreme Court inquiry set up to investigate a controversial unsigned memo allegedly delivered to the US military seeking its help in curbing the power of Pakistan's armed forces in May.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani earlier this week accused the army and intelligence chiefs of failing to make their submissions to the commission through government channels in an unusually bold interview with Chinese media.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the army vociferously denied Gilani's accusation, saying it had passed its response through the defence ministry to the court in accordance with the law.

"There can be no allegation more serious than what the honourable prime minister has levelled against COAS (army chief General Ashfaq Kayani) and DG ISI (spy chief Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha) and has unfortunately charged the officers for violation of the constitution of the country," said the army's statement.

"This has very serious ramifications with potentially grievous consequences for the country."

Kayani returned on Tuesday from China and met on Wednesday with the head of Myanmar's air force in Rawalpindi.

The defence secretary was immediately sacked over what the government said was a "misunderstanding" between Gilani and the top brass.

"Prime minister has terminated the contract of defence secretary Naeem Khalid Lodhi for gross misconduct," a senior government official told AFP.

State media said he had been fired "for creating misunderstanding between the state institutions".

Crisis in Pak: Gilani sacks defence secy, army warns PM - The Times of India

I think PIGS have patted him to get rid of the COAS & ISI head to get even for closing the afghanistan supply route.

I think that opinion of members here for Army should be taken with pinch of salt. The majority is directly or indirectly linked to Army, and they use forms to build anti government and pro Army opinion.

When we were talking about drones attacks these guys were saying let the government take the decision. On the other they hardly allow government to control, be it foreign policy, decision to open close routes etc.

So take credit for everything good and discredited government for everything bad.

I am not saying government has angels, you either let them control everything and take both credit and discredit or be the government.

the thread makes me think Indians are having the votes hot in their hand. It's nothing of your business. Personally I favor Imran Khan, time to have a Iconic figure in politics running. Those professional politicians lost their sense of governing.

I hope what ever is to happen happens for the best of Pakistan, this statement is no flatter or for the love for Pakistan but it is in the interest of my country to see a stable and prosperous pakistan.

Jai hind. :)

You dubious double faced liar indians, what the f--- are your agencies supporting terrorist in Baluchistan for? to stabilize Pakistan?

PA use airbombings against terrorists but IA crush their own civilians forget Gujarat Massacre, Orissa Massacre, Indian Occupied Kashmir Massacre, Golden Temple Massacre, Nagaland Massacre, Assam Massacre, Tamil Tiger terrorists, Mutki Banihi terrorists, BLA terrorists, TTP terrorists?

I'm being totally honest here, and I hope you don't mind. Pakistan used to be richer than India but is now poorer. Even though IA has killed Kashmiris, US drones have killed equal number of Pakistanis. It is a disgrace for the forces of another nation to kill a single one of your citizens on your own soil. Kill them yourselves if necessary. Even if there are civilians dying in India, it is IA that's killing them and not another country, and that's the difference. All powerful countries have been forced to kill their own civilians in the past, but no powerful country gets its civilians killed by foreigners without resistance.
