I don't think so there will be martial law. Its implications on international forum cancbe dangerous. In martial law, Army's professionalism and image suffers. Army should play it's role behind the scene by strengthening institutions by supporting it. And, they are doing the same thing at the moment.

20% increase in military budget is a modest increase? You got to be kidding me. The Rs vs USD depreciation is around 7%. So you just can't keep calming that it has to do with the US dollar when figures don't match up.

Pakistan's economy grew, every year - the defense budget increases to keep in proportion with the GDP/Budget. Inflation also pays a big role.

That's irrelevant. Just compare the Dollar/Rs fluctuation. 1 USD = Rs 104.7 in March 2016. Differential 7 to 8% in April 2018.
