Pakistan among failed states: Nawaz

God, I understand how the system works, it's not that hard to understand. Let me repeat it for you again: a) the weights given to each indicator are based on opinion. b) Selecting certain indicators, but not others, is based on an opinion. c) Even the scores given to a certain indicator in many cases is based on an opinion. End result: these rankings are nothing but opinion! Period.
Let me ask you in retrospect then ; what makes the 24% BPL in Pakistan and 42% BPL in India a fact ? What makes 77% of Indians and 63% of Pakistanis earning <= 20 Rs. a day a fact ? What makes 1/3rd of the world's poor reside in India, & India has more poor people in its 8 states a fact ?

.
No, because our neighbours country is so modern and peaceful :D. All children have so much food to eat, there is so much religious harmony there that every few years everybody burns down a few mosques, jolly good fun innit. At least half of the judges of the Supreme Court are corrupt, but i mean you are a democracy so everything is allowed right. Ah Pakistanis, how you must envy the Global superpower India :enjoy:

in which world are you living??
we are proud of our judiciary... our judiciary is not like yours?
some politicians and officials may be corrupt may but in todays date I can say with full confidence that we have more uncorrupted persons than corrupted ones..

you have some what different version of democracy and you need to be update it
in our democracy emergency are not implemented in year or two.... president do not fight with supreme court judges,
even opposition leader great leaders of party in power with respect and vice versa.. more over national leaders are chosen on the bases of their qualification and the works they have done in welfare of nation be it manmohan or kalam or pratiba patil

and not like to make the mr. 10% as the head of our country

.
Pakistan may not be a failed state, but it is limping in that direction.

Perceptron this thread was created on the norms to discredit Pakistan. In essence I can make a thread about India, with a connotation on why it has more poor people than Africa, a sanitation problem and the famous southern cow piss drink. My point is making score point's on one another will not solve the current situation, so its best if you pipe down with your shenanigans.

Arrogance diminishes wisdom, you clearly have that in spades.

is bhaigharat ghanjay ko koi bhato ke is ne kya kiya hai Pakistan ke liye?

Dude, what are you talking about? What international source says Pakistan's poverty levels are at 40%? The World Bank has said that Pakistan's poverty levels are at 17%, whereas in India, they're at 42%. According to other estimates, there are 836 million (77% of the population) Indians that earn 20 rupees a day. 1/3rd of the world's poor reside in India, & India has more poor people in its 8 states than there are in all of Africa.

Live in denial. :)

Pakistan: Population living below poverty line: 40%

Economy of Pakistan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

India: Population living below poverty line: 37%

Economy of India - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And that is in Entire India because of population. But actual poverty is more in Pakistan. Going by your logic Pakistan has more poors than ENTIRE population of my state. Forget about poors. I'm talking about population of entire STATE! :)

What international agencies have said Pakistan's poverty levels are 40%?

This is a comparison of Pakistan's poverty levels with India, in the World Bank report for 2011:

Most Indian states have more poverty than Pakistan.

Po calling the Kettle Black? Seems like Nawaz will not be bowed but if the army does decide to play "savior" we can be sure relations with the US (read US $$ for the army) will improve significantly

Letter diplomacy: Zardari to Nawaz - Stop criticising the army
By Abdul Manan
September 8, 2011

LAHORE: The political positions of the two leading parties in the country have come full circle since the 1990s. In a letter written to the eponymous leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, President Asif Ali Zardari asked Nawaz Sharif not to criticise the army or the government.

The letter, which was highly critical of the PML-N leadership in polite but pointed language, was made public through a press release by the Punjab government’s information department.

Using references to the highly divisive politics of the 1990s, the president appeared to be playing the role of an elder statesman, asking the leader of the country’s largest opposition party to focus on helping the people of the one province that the PML-N governs rather than concerning themselves with criticising the federal government’s every move.

“The nation does not need provocative speeches, but rather a treatment for dengue fever,” the president’s letter was quoted as saying, in a reference to the dengue epidemic that has plagued Punjab over the past few days.

Teaching hospitals in Lahore, the provincial capital, report receiving as many as 600 dengue fever patients a day. A Pakistan Peoples Party spokesperson in Punjab claimed that 10,000 people had been affected by the disease so far.

The president also asked Sharif to spare a thought for the flood victims in Sindh, Zardari’s home province.

“If you do not want to visit Sindh because of me, visit it for the sake of the poor, marooned people of the province,” the president was quoted as having written.

The president even offered Sharif his personal residence in Nawabshah for his stay in Sindh and implied that his hospitality would be a repayment in kind for Zardari’s stay in Kholi (a prison), a reference to the time that Zardari was imprisoned on corruption charges (that were never proven) during the Sharif administration in the 1990s.

“Let’s come together to support the nation and get her out from the clutches of natural calamities,” the press release quoted the president as having said.

Allusions to plots

Yet the main thrust of the president’s letter appeared to be to convince Sharif of the need to support democracy in the country and not take any actions to destabilise it. In veiled terms, the president appeared to be referring to reports that have emerged in recent months that the PML-N is planning to seek early parliamentary polls before the March 2012 Senate elections.

Zardari reminded Sharif that the ouster of the PPP government in 1996 by then-President Farooq Leghari gave the PML-N a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly but did not secure democracy in the country, leading ultimately to the military coup by General Pervez Musharraf.

“Democracy requires a hundred years to take hold in a nation but it can be destroyed in an instant,” the president was quoted as saying. “Come out of the world of imagination, idealism and adventurism or else there will come a time when neither you will be able to call me in Kholi nor will I be able to call you.”

That veiled reference to the possibility of another military coup was accompanied with the request to Sharif to stop criticising the army, something that the PML-N leader has been doing very frequently and publicly since the May 2 US raid on Abbottabad.

(Read: ‘Zardari conspiring to create Nawaz-Army rift’)

Zardari asked Sharif to remember what the president considered to be the achievements of the PPP-led government, including the restoration of the 1973 constitution, freedom of expression, and the institutionalisation of the supremacy of parliament and the independence of the judiciary.

Hmmm.. I thought this thread was a news item about a statement from the ex Prime Minister of Pakistan before a couple of trolls changed its direction.. ;)

It's hypocritical yet sad to see Nawaz making such statements about our country, while he himself had the chance and opportunity to get our country out of this so-called 'failed-state" zone.

But despite being in power, Pakistan almost went bankrupt, and all he did was build 1 motorway.
He's also known for being corrupt to the bone together with his family and brother.

Being so wealthy and powerful himself, it's so stupid to call Pakistan a failed state, Mr. Nawaz, you dirty little pig, what have you done to "change" Pakistan? Your useless bragging will get us nowhere.

Either get your *** out of politics or shut the hell up, that's what I think.

Pakistan is not a failed state, it's what anti-Pakistan elements love to think and say, but that's not how it's going to be.
We are poised and set for a comeback, this WoT has dragged us back, but resilience is the key and we have plenty of that.
Pakistan should have plenty of that, considering the fact it's been living under corrupt leaders ever since.

.
Thats true, currently Pakistan is 12th out of 20 in Failed states index!!!

Geo Democracy!!

My heart cries more louder than you, Birather. We south asian cousins were supposed to have a shared destiny, didnt we?

Dunno why Allah has been so harsh and partial on our "brothers" ??

.
Nawaz knows what he is talking about - recall where Pakistan was when Nawaz was last premier, recall that this is the same Nawaz whose ambition was to be declared Amir ul Momineen and the same Nawaz who's goon attacked the Supreme Court - so , yeah, Nawaz knows a thing or two about Pakistan as a failed state, though he seemed to have learned nothing about Pakistani politicians as abject failures.

.
The is almost Funny & Ridiculous at the same time since this statement is coming from a FAILED LEADER of a FAILED Party .

Why dont these Garbage Politicians Just Die & leave us alone we will be batter without them .

LAHORE: The world is rating Pakistan among failed states and repeated military interventions have forced Baloch nationalists to seek foreign support against the country, which is an alarming situation, chief of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday.

He was addressing a gathering after the balloting for yellow cabs in the city.

Nawaz Sharif said that the government was proceeding on policies devised by a dictator regime (the Musharraf government), adding that it was the outcome of those policies which had put the country on the world map as a failed state.

Criticising the government for the country’s growing isolation on the international level, he said that issues such as corruption, extremism, terrorism, low rate of growth of economy, stoppage of development work and unemployment were still unresolved, creating a multi-dimensional crisis in the country.

Stressing the need for adopting a culture of accountability, he said that it was necessary to rise above personal interests and work for the promotion of national interest.

Giving the example of the PML-N, he said that his party was far more responsible in this regard as it had sacked two of its legislators on corruption charges.

Accusing President Asif Ali Zardari of promoting his “own and party’s interests”, he said that instead of setting a good precedent, President Zardari’s action had pushed the country “on the brink of destruction”.

“We should save the country from Zardari’s corruption, ” he said.

Highlighting the contribution of Baloch nationalist leaders such as Attaullah Mengal and Mir Hasil Bizenjo in abolishing the 8th Amendment, he said that they had played a very active role along with him and Benazir Bhutto in this regard, adding that Balcoh nationalists should more often be allowed to play a constructive role for the sake of the country.

Criticising the government, he said that instead of assimilating Baloch nationalists into the national political mainstream, the rulers had pushed “sons of Baloch nationalists to seek asylum in foreign countries and…work against the country”.

There “is chaos in three provinces”, he said, “but the federal government is engaged in hatching conspiracies against Punjab”, trying to destabilise the provincial government and devising way to divide the province. Rejecting criticism over his party’s role as being a “friendly opposition”, he said he and his party “played the role of a genuine opposition by launching anti-government agitation such as the long march”.

Zardari, he said, had tried to disqualify him and his brother through courts and even imposed governor rule in Punjab and even now “he and his party are engaged in efforts to weaken the Punjab province”. He warned Zardari to refrain from “all malicious activities”.
