Looks like Nehru made some very bad decisions? I mean, taking the Kashmir issue to the UNSC? Accepting China's control of Tibet? Putting the economy on a quasi-socialist ("Hindu Rate of Growth")?
Anyway, sad to see India-China fighting each other, rather than accept some kind of USA-Canada co-existence.
As to the OP, yes, Pakistan is indeed a very low-cost investment for China. But Pakistan must be getting something in return for that, I think.

We have 3 trillion US dollars in reserves but all that is worthless if the USA decides to print money because we don't have a defensible transportation corridor for oil and gas from the Middle East. Pakistan's strategic location is worth more to us than 3 trillion US dollars in reserves.
