I am just pissed off with this nonsense debate over J&K every now & then. I am specially annoyed because we missed so many opportunities to bring an end to this J&K issue all together.

a) Nehru should not have restricted Indian Army in retaking P.O.K in 1948 itself. The loser instead ran to UN inviting them to jump in thereby proving that everyone in the family was born lunatic.

b) In 65/71 we should have extended the war with full force, without worrying about the losses, and retaken the captured land instead of listening to International communities cries.In 71, we literally had their balls in our hands but then leadership failed us again there.

Once retaking the whole state we should have integrated the whole Kashmir with India, moving people in, developing the state(Like how China did in Tibet Xinxiang). That would have ideal solution for the problem but alas we had sorry leaders like Gandhi & Nehru who worked more for Pakistan than for India.

Kashmir shares a border with India, China and Pakistan. Guess where they get there weapons and other support from! And India has gun control laws which makes the availability of automatic weapons very difficult.

Actually no. Those separatist leaders - mostly Hurriyat - who have picked up arms are not hunted. They take part in talks with both countries and are usually quite public. They just boycott the elections each time.

Direct result of dying militancy. The security setup cannot suddenly disappear, but is gradually going.

They are separatists! There boycott has been continuing from 1946, when the Abdullah of that era called for it. Even when other parties - PDP and NC have joined the electoral process, they continue the boycott. They consider elections to be sham and a ploy by the involved parties. I would give them benefit of doubt by calling it an ideological stand.

It is wrong from our point of view that if you represent the people, stand in elections. That is what democracy is all about. Your voice holds no meaning till you can't show public support, not when voter turnout is exceeding 60%.

Well maybe coz they dont consider India as their country so why stand for elections in a country thats not theirs? if they do stand Indians will rejoice that the Kashmiri separatists group has accepted India as their land and dont want separation...
