PAF: Why a few "advance and expensive" aircrafts make sense

Yes but it's capabilities are also very good.

Advance jets come at a price. F22 are expensive that even USA doesn't wanna buy anymore. But it still needs it. If it has a fight with Russia or China, these jets will go first and escort lesser advance jets like f15s, 16s and so forth.

Go for Western aircrafts, they are easier to master than Russian ones.
The reliability of their engines also better. Lifehour, maintenance interval longer.
Engines could last for 10 years.It's very important especially when you go for a quite small quantity.

See the Su-30MKI, their performance was affected by engines.

I think PAF is getting food deals as Russia needs money and PAF needs plane to start protecting gawadar. I mean it'd take 5-10 years to get full fleet, so they've to plan now. Russia will get a needed deposit.

But I hope PAF thinks about future too. I think Russia is only su-35 operator whereas many nations use f-15. This means we can buy used ones from Saudi/other countries in future or parts. Also in future war with India, Russia will side India more than US will side India, we might not get engines etc etc because Russia makes some excuse. Perhaps they can do an agreement before.

Perhaps the Russian discount is just too good?

You are saying this will be a stop gap aircraft( 3 Sqd of flankers) ?

Not only that , these flankers been described as gen 4++ fighters which means they have the ability to become 5th generation so , again with passing time , we will have the experiences & we will upgrade them they will be with us for a long time even if we go for a 100% full 5th generation fighters later ?

Yes those were very good planes that's why we cant fly our F-16S in kargill war ?

do you think pakistan will always be defence all his life. defence is not doctrine anymore.if you wana live long you have tell your enemies that we can strike deep into your tertiary. these toys are sign of strong defence and attack. if you fight to defend your country. it will give you more damge rather takeing it others country. offence is best doctrine. in the end war kills week and give power to rich

You go to the war with what you have. And you plan accordingly, not emotionally. two squadrons will not give much needed offensive capability. You need at least 4-5 as the opposition operating better platforms and layered SAM network.
