PAF could have downed more Indian planes in Pulwama crisis: ex-air chief

Kargil was another thing..... Not relevant here.
And PAF only claimed 2 Indian jets which Indians proved themselves in their foolish tactics.
There was a 3rd kill also.... The Indian Mi17 helicopter which was out to rescue any survivors of Su30 but both sides remained silent on thus issue and blame was put on SPYDER.
Dear do not to convince people by typing irrelevant things.
Kargil was another thing..... Not relevant here.

It is about credibility.. things can be changed every time.

I’m new here doesn’t negate what I know and have seen.
That’s fair.

The issue is with people trying to say only Indian side had holes in the story.

ISPR initially said that there is no requirement of a visit by media but later on organised one after almost two months. Forget media, why couldn’t they post inside pictures themselves.

I agree that satellite images have quite a lot of stories to tell. My question is why not make an international or national media guy stand right inside that building and call an Indian bluff. That would have been the biggest master stroke. What was their to hide?
Any case, there has been enough bickering on these with me participating as well. I commented just to extend the list by my friend and seem to be getting drawn into it again. Sighhhh.

It's a shame that you are showing a begging bowl when infia is the largest recipient of aid on the planet.
I as a Pakistan for the sake of humanity would not laugh at this but you Indians are a fxxcking joke

Coming from a country where they denied their army involvement in the Kargil war initially, even the world was aware because proper evidence was provided and a few years later distributed medals.
You speak as if your nation is a Saint but you clearly forget about your dealings in Sri Lanka.

LTTE ring a bell? Arming them against Sri Lanka and then pretending you were on Sri Lankas side this whole time? Denying that you backed the LTTE. Kalbushan Yadav. Found in Iran as a RAW agent. Exposed as a RAW agent. Yet you denied involvement. (Although despite calling him a generic citizen of India, you are kicking up a big fuss about it 🤔)

If you are dumb enough not to know how easy it is for me to tell if you are using Surf shark, then you are dumb enough to be kicked out.

A little off topic but India isn’t the biggest aid receiver. I have proven it with facts on thread that was created to discuss this aspect. Pakistan is many times more than India on per capita basis. In few cases, it is more than India, even on absolute basis.
Off late (last 4-5 years) India has gone down on aid drastically while Paksiatn has been going up.
People google and quote a Times of India report which is poorly written and edited. That report quotes USAID and other agencies without checking the facts properly.

PAF could have downed more Indian planes in Pulwama crisis: ex-air chief

By Our Correspondent
January 16, 2023

LAHORE: Former Air Chief Marshall Sohail Aman Sunday said Pakistan could have taught India even a bigger lesson during the Pulwama crisis but it displayed restraint as an escalation of the tension was not an objective.

He was delivering a lecture at the Nazriya Pakistan Trust which was the first of a series of “Quaid e Azam Leadership Lectures” launched by the trust devoted to promoting the vision and philosophy of the founding fathers of the nation. Sohail Aman spoke of passion and determination as key elements of leadership and added that the Quaid-e-Azam proved through creation of Pakistan that “nothing is impossible”. He said Pakistan’s superior strategy and decisive leadership had humbled India during the ‘post-Pulwama crisis’ in February 2019, when “we had eight Indian aircraft within our range, with electronic warfare tracking their every move and we could have taught them a bigger lesson, but we didn’t want to escalate.”

Terming ex-ACM Sohail Aman an authentic Pakistani hero, Senator Mushahid Hussain, Vice Chairman of Nazriya Pakistan Trust (NPT), said the Quaid-e-Azam through his leadership based on character, courage and commitment had set a unique example which inspired Muslims and led to the struggle which created Pakistan. “Thanks to the Quaid-e-Azam and the founding fathers, we are today living as free citizens of a free country,” Mushahid Hussain said, underlining that the nation must honour its heroes who are role models for the people of Pakistan. He said the people of Pakistan had guts and the spirit but they were let down by a weak leadership.

He lauded Sohail Aman for building a modern fighting force in the form of the Pakistan Air Force, which gave a befitting reply to Indian aggression in Balakot in February 2019, which was Pakistan’s finest hour, along with the nuclear tests in May 1998.

Presiding over the meeting, NPT Senior Vice Chairman Mian Farooq Altaf talked about various attributes of the Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership, his impeccable integrity and honesty, and uncompromising stand on Pakistan, adding, “the Quaid gave all his property to educational institutions and his family derived no benefit from the creation of Pakistan.” Conversely, today he warned against “worshipping power and money”, as character is more important than these worldly material possessions. Other speakers said Quaid’s leadership based on character, courage and commitment is the key to Pakistan’s turnaround in the future.

Hi,

This statement by the ex chief is totally SHAMELESS ---.

It took me back 45 years---multan---Nishtar medical college dorms for doctors---cricket ground---.

I was bowling in the practice session---. The batsman was one time slected amonsgt the 18 for test cricket---.

I bowled to him---instead of hitting the ball---he pointed towards the boundary and said---6---. I told him hit the ball---that is what it is for--.

How many chances we have given to our armed forces to break down the enemy over the decades---and yet they brag of their incompetence---at what they could have done---

Sohail Aman wasn't in command at that time. He would have done it am sure. It's widely said in PAF circles... That in Swift Retort, it was actuality ACM Sohail's PAF which actually fought, since his hard training and high standards came into play, not ACM Mujahid's.

Is there any real reason why he chose not to? Or just the typical not wanting to escalate?

Anyway hopefully training and quality standards can be kept consistent. PAF is one of the very few institutions in Pakistan that one can truly be proud of. It has not failed us. 🫡

I just wish every national instituion in Pakistan had the same level of quality and expectiations at least rather than the current circus everywhere else...

I would suspect further escalation would mean the Indians using their army or navy to up the ante on different theaters.

They were escalating in the South by working towards deploying missiles or atleast were posturing to. They activated their navy submarines as well.

Why all our Chiefs are becoming tain tain phuss?

All that was done because they have tested leadership on occasions . but AF response shattered their dreams, even though our response was bare minimum to say the least.

There is always some hesitation in any opening round, especially since it had been a long time since PAF had fired in anger in a real A to A engagement.
your comment is raising lots of questions, not a wise comment.

I usually do not disagree with you but on this occasion I have to and agree with @undercover JIX. There should be no hesitation when you command a strike, regardless of the time gap from when it last fired. It's what the fuel burning in peacetime is for.

But as others have said, including @MastanKhan, we do a job but do the least possible.

Of course my comment wasn't made with the danger of incoming questions in mind.

It may not be wise to you, but then, it happens, it has happened to other countries as well.

One doesn't get trigger happy or weapons free on the very first day.
