PAF and The Case for Eurofighter Typhoon

28 Eurofighters would cost us 8 Billion Euoros

. . .
there are not yet more than 12 years old
Yes we are using F-16 which are now 23 years old so why EFT which is 12 years old will be not suitable...??
Batein bnane ki aadat nahi khatan ho sakti Goron ki

Obviouly price will be less we can get 36 for about 3-4 billion dollars.
How much cheaper would it be, if it is second hand?

.
I don't See Paf going for Typhoon in near a future because a single jet is over 100+m a peace

A single squad will be over billion in current state can't afford that and all the funds should be used most probably will be thunder and on 5th gen birds and other systems

Rafael won't Join IAF in 1 or 2 years if you look at the current pace Indian air force will taken 6 to 7 years to induct and use this bird

.
Friends, i can't understand your guys, looking for second hand trashs all over the world.
Suggestion:
1、Mores JF17s, even J10s, coupled with HQ9 or S300, To neutralize the superiority from IAF with less investment.
2、Focus on the 5th generation fighters, if you can get J31 or TFX early, you can change the balance of the air power in south aisa.

For pakistan, some overpriced 4th generation fighters like typoon can change nothing with the much larger country like india.

Rafale will be inducted and operatioy in IAF till 2019.

And which bird will fill the gap of superiority between PAF and IAF...???

J31 will not be ready till 2022.
J10 we are interested but it is a deadlock... Nobody can understand why J-10 deal was cancelled.
Rafale will be inducted in 2019 till then block 3 will also be not ready to be operatinal.

So so so we have to buy second hand trash that will become a gold piece for a small tenure.

You need use your money more clever
To win a war with the stronger enemy, you need use asymmetrical warfare. For example, submarine Vs surface fleet, SAMS vs fighters. especially not typoon vs rafael.
It is not a wise way to engage with them one on one.

There won't be any war in the near future. Neither India nor Pak will dare to wage a full fledged war as both countries have their economies growing and they would't want to screw that up. Except for a few border skirmishes & cross border firings, we don't see a potential full scale war. It would be better for Pakistan to invest in the JF program and 5th gen tech. I would want India to do the same by investing in Tejas with a solid project management team instead of going with the F16s or Gripens. It is always better to improve indigenous tech rather than going for foreign tech and begging for spares and additional aricrafts when needed. Just my two cents, Peace:cheers:

this is the possible scenario and i hope you will understand it.

F-16s are getting older and are in small numbers, and in case of war with india 70-80% F-16 will be destroyed and war will bring US sanctions on Pakistan and Pakistan will be barred from getting any western system and that will left Pakistan with only JF-17.

If PAF buys EFT now (even if they are used), it will ease the pressure from F-16 and after the war PAF might has less loss of F-16 compared to without EFT and during the sanction PAF will have plenty of western jets to guard the borders.
and by seeing the European countries economic disparity, they will not hold sanctions more than 2 years and they will sell equipment to Pakistan willingly.

JF-17 is light-weight and is only good for interception and point-defence.
J-31 will also be considered as light-weight to preserve it stealth.
and that is why PAF needs another Medium to heavy-weight fighter jet to support J-31 for long range to do SEAD/DEAD operation.
Given the recent Indian purchase of S-400. PAF is need 4.5th Fighter jet to penetrate and destroy the indian AD missile systems.

Don't know but somehow PAF is not considering J-10.

What you are suggesting is possible but not practical.

1) JF17 and HQ9 / S300 could provide Pakistan territorial denial capabilities.
2) Air superiority and deep strike capability would still fall on the F-16's which are not enough in PAF.
3) J-10's can not offer some thing more than what PAF can achieve with JF-17 and F-7 PG's and Mirage III/V's. All these aircraft would be used in the same role as that of J-10's. Point defence and aerial deniability with fraction of the cost of J-10's.
4) PAF would like to go for aircraft that are to be produced in numbers other wise it would be impossible to produce 5th gen aircraft in limited budget and numbers. J-31 being an export version of Chinise 5 th gen aircraft would not achieve a large number of orders hence the costs would be relatively high. These might be almost similar to what PAF might have to pay to procure F-35's if allowed.
5) TFX is still a long way in future.

second hand jets are more probable, but do note they would cost a lot to upgrade and the maintenance would kill you.
the spaniards have openly offered typhoons to other countries but these are tranche 1's which are not worth it. for training, yes, for combat no, unless your arab and you have billions to spend on buying and upgrading them.

What's wrong with those who think they're Arab thinking of spending billions buying and upgrading Typhoons?
