And you say 'Sunnah', but are you considering the difference between Sharia rulings and specific commands to the Prophet regarding specific situations? Very important.

Eg: Zakat is a Sharia ruling, applicable to all of us. ''Attack the polytheists of Makkah after the sacred months pass'' was a specific command, no longer applicable to us.

I would like to add a point.
Certain Islamic rulings were changed time to time on the basis of situation and need. For example khamar (sharab) was declared non permissible in three stages. In sharia it is known as Nasikh o Mansokh.

I think we should not oppose debates regarding revival of caliphate etc. I dont understand why some people are so itchy on that subject?

If you wish to disagree, tag me in post and in civilized manner give reasons why you disagree. The past events in ME have exposed the hypocritices in their war against Muslim children and peoples . And it's approaching in near future where they officially declare a violent war on God's followers. I think it's time we start informing each other and also treat these scum who claim to be Muslims as our enemies.

Yes, correct. That is similar to how slavery was strongly discouraged but not completely forbidden because of the situation of those times.

No disagreements here.
A Caliphate as a political system could be effective, especially if the Caliph is a decent human being and rules like consensus and Majlis-e-shura etc are taken into consideration.

It is not too different from the modern 'Democracy' system, except that it adheres to Islamic rulings along with consensus and discussion.

The reason people are 'itchy' about it is because groups like ISIS claim to be Caliphates.

Once again, making caliphate exclusive to ISIS. Please stop making excuses, a small group of 20k militants, anybody who is anti Israel, anti injustice and pro Islam is associated with ISIS in order to intimidate Muslims. Many Muslims today are Kuffar, this is era of end times. Not era of Prophet or era after his death. Many Muslims today don't support Islam let alone follow Islamic pillars. And people who try disconnecting politics from Islam are Kaffir. Those are the state clerics who justify invasions of Gaza, Iraq, persecuting political dissidents, stealing money from state through their sick fatwas that are intended to protect state authorities. Islam isn't open for modification, only kuffar claim that to justify their bad deeds.
