The successive Pakistani governments have been pursuing a continuous improvement strategy as much as they can with all the rampant corruption in the country. Various actions have been done under the liberal capitalist model espoused by the World Bank and IMF to improve the situation. In the last sixteen months "difficult decisions" were undertaken by Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar and they managed to save the country from rout. But still more and more "difficult decisions" are being taken on a weekly basis and the general population is made to sacrifice for the country while the elites pay nothing.

Some measures like the Corporate Farming will give a short-term respite but they will also not solve the issue. The political solution of Interim Government provided by the establishment is also destined for failure.

Peoples Party was asking for elections and after some raids on Peoples Party leaders in which a lot of currency was captured, Zardari has backed down from this demand. In the meantime, Nawaz Sharif has declared that he will return to Pakistan in October supposedly to take part in elections.

These are all continuous improvement or small steps that improve the situation gradually over time.

What is needed for Pakistan in these dire straits is a Breakthrough Innovation Strategy. After that Continuous Improvement in the form of small steps can be done to further improve the situation.

We have India to the East growing up as an emerging World Power and financing TTP to our Western Border and Baloch Liberation Movement to the South West. We have Afghanistan to the West with an Islamic Emirate government run by an Emir with a Prime Minister. Iran is another neighbor which is being run on the basis of Shia religion by an elected President overseen by a Guardian Council led by the Supreme Leader.

We are faced with the TTP threat as well as the economic disaster. Our Saudi and UAE financers have taken the side of India in the recent India meeting with the announcement of the new trade corridor linking India with Europe through Arabia.

The breakthrough innovation that I propose is for Pakistan to declare itself as Khilafah and make a Confederation with Iran and Afghanistan just like the European Union (EU) as a first step. Then integrating the economy through the land route with China and Russia. Already India, Iran and Russia have built the North-South Trade Corridor which can be used by us to transport goods to and from Russia through Iran.

We should also maintain good relations with USA and Europe and trade with them. This step will increase the land mass of Pakistan three times and will solve the energy crisis in one go. The issue of TTP will also go away as they will all accept Islamic government which is their main demand.

Nawaz Sharif was ready for this in the nineties following exhortation by Dr. Israr Ahmed R.A. Zardari will also join in once he gets the green signal from Tehran. Imran Khan has already made up the minds of his followers with Riasat-e-Madina concept.

Political parties can be formed under Islamic Ideology in the Khilafah state and take part in elections but all the laws against Islam will be removed.

Hafiz Syed Asim Munir can take this bold and historic step to make Pakistan a regional power and usher in an era of prosperity with sound Islamic economic principles.

However, there is a window of time in which this opportunity can be seized. Once political activities for elections start again, then the opportunity will go away.

Why would Iran want anything to do with you ? I will let Iranian members comment on this

What do you think you are going to purchase from Russia ?

We can purchase Wheat and Oil from Russia for starters. We can also sell garments to them.

Are the governments of Iran and Afghanistan in agreement with this plan?

What is the gain for them?

The entire point of sanctions against Iran was to curtail their access to nuclear weapons, them joining Pakistan would also mean the sanctions extend to you

It is the aim to keep balanced relations with USA and Russia just like India. A new entity will be created under the leadership of Pakistan which will be like the European Union (EU) so the sanctions would not extend to us.

Iran would gain with a bigger and customs free market for its products and end of Shia-Sunni discord. Afghanistan would also gain with a bigger market and customs free access.

What does this mean. Why will the military agree?

Why do you think Iran and Afghanistan would like it. Both of them have never shown much interest in becoming a Big Brother.

What benefit will accrue to any country by involving with Pakistan?

You really think Iranians and Afghans want to live under the leadership of Pakistan. Send me the strong stuff you are smoking :D

The military will agree if it realizes that this is the best option for Pakistan. Historically, this region and Afghanistan have been under one rule for long periods of time. We can have an election for the post of Caliph and if someone from Pakistan wins then persons from Iran and Afghanistan can be made First Ministers.

Military will always want what is the best option for the military.

Historically, all the countries of British India were under one rule for a long period of time. But nobody wants that now. If an election for the post of Caliph is held and if the Ayatollah of Iran wins, then will a First Minister from Pakistan agree to serve with him? What if the Mullah XYZ of Afghanistan wins?

@R2D2
1. Can you explain more on what basis this union would be equivalent or superior to the europian union?

2. Can you quantiy the size of the economic gain that having custom free acess to Pakistani market would be, the obvious question would arise that how much more profitable is it for Iran and Afghanistan to trade with fewer barriers or free trade vs merging into a union.

This proposal is at the idea stage right now. When the idea permeates the general population and the leadership in the three countries, then the problems you have listed will be sorted out and solved. Military budget size will be increased as we will get the armies of Iran and Afghanistan joining us.

We are also using Iranian products in Pakistan like plastic based products such as utencils, Iranian petrol and diesel, iranian fruits and vegetables. There is border trade with Iran at a number of places. We are getting electricity from them. We are selling them rice. We get many fruits and vegetables from Afghanistan as well as coal. We sell medicines and consumer goods to them. So, there is compatiability in trade with these two countries.

Whats impressive is that ISPR has inserted their touts in this forum back in 2009.

If the BOYS has shown this much foresight in other matters of importance, we would not be in this economic rout .

Agreed about the compatibility, but you've been unable to explain your assertion

1. How would such a union be comparable to European union to defend against strong sanctions that Iran and Afghanistan currently face because on the face of it your logic seems to stem from " Europe big we big both same same"

2. Trade compatibility can be enhanced with better relations and free trade agreements, why not do those instead of merging with Pakistan. What is the incentive for Afghanistan and Iran to join in a union with Pakistan

I don't understand why would there be sanctions? We would have good relations with all the World powers with a non-aligned stance and would be looking for enhanced trade with them. China was under the sanctions but Bhutto's diplomacy with USA convinced them to open a channel with them which has led to bilateral relations eventually.

Our religion asks us to form a special type of government with some economic, political, social and cultural principles on which the government should be run as given in the Quran and Sunnah. It is called the Khilafah. In the present times, it can be best understood through the example of European Union. So, people from all three countries would be willing to join the union as we would become an economic power if we join together.

You have a wild imagination. Imran Khan has the same ideas of Riasat e medina and Nawaz Sharif wanted to form an Islamic Government in the nineties as well. I am a follower of Dr. Israr Ahmed (RA) and have some of my own ideas as well.

1. Is Iran not under sanctions for being suspected of trying to build a nuclear bomb. If it forms a union with Pakistan would not all those sanctions affect pakistan as well. The US, KSA are against Iran getting nucleae bombs, would that not as well take counter measures against such a union. It is not as simple as changing your name and the world powers forget who you were and the problems they had before. It doesnt reset like that.

2. The government in Afghanistan is not currently recognised worldwide as a legitimate government, if it merges with pakistan would not that distrust extend to Pakistan as well as being seen as an attempt to legitimise a rogue governent

3. What leverage does Pakistan currently have to navigate these challenges

4. What benefit does Pakistan get from facing these additional challenges
