Operation Tirah Valley | News & Updates

Ok....evem if Uzbek and tajik..
Where they arrange food from?
From where they get weapons?
Where they train and live?
Local support is imminent.
Tirah valley does not border with Afghanistan,so i fail to beleive that militants fought for such a long time without local support.

Yaraa Tirah is right next to Afghanistan even if it isn't bordering it directly ! The people are intimidated into giving them food & shelter, why do you think some of them rose up & formed Aman Lashkars whilst others were forced to become IDPs in their own country ?

Stop being appologist and admit that without local support none of that was possible.
Chitral...para chinar and many other areas are bordering Afganistan but dont get 1% as much trouble as pushtoon tribal areas.

Of course there is local support but its not nearly on the scale of what you are proposing ! There is local support for that in Punjab too how else where they able to bomb the sh*t out of Punjab till 2-3 years ago but the vast majority of Punjabis don't support them & neither do the Pukhtoons !

PA should consider, ordering armed drones, we don't need to waste our men on these criminals.

Troops kill 16 militants in Tirah valley: Military
PESHAWAR: Troops overran two militant hideouts and killed 16 insurgents after heavy overnight fighting at a flashpoint near the Afghan border in which two soldiers also died, the military said Sunday.
The fighting took place in the wake of a fresh military push in the Tirah valley, where the military has been targeting Taliban and Lashkar-e-Islam militia who threaten Peshawar.
Khyber straddles the Nato supply line into Afghanistan, used by US-led troops to evacuate military equipment ahead of their 2014 withdrawal, and officials say it is key to protecting security in Peshawar for historic elections next week.
“In a successful operation security forces last night captured Kismat Sur and Sanghar, two strong hideouts of militants in Tirah Valley,” the military said in a statement.
“Sixteen militants were killed in the operation. Two security personnel embraced martyrdom and three were wounded,” it said.
Independent verification of the death toll was not possible as the area is cut off to journalists and aid workers.
“Militants were seen fleeing from the area, leaving behind a huge cache of arms and ammunition,” the statement added.
Pakistan Army has been fighting for years against homegrown insurgents in the area, which Washington considers the main hub of Taliban and al Qaeda militants plotting attacks on the West and in Afghanistan.

From what I am hearing they will just fortify the hills and stay. They are not going to roll down into Khyber, which is a pretty stupid decision in the long run.

16 militants killed in Tirah Valley operation

PESHAWAR: Pakistani troops overran two militant hideouts and killed 16 insurgents after heavy overnight fighting at a flashpoint near the Afghan border in which two soldiers also died, the military said on Sunday.

The fighting took place in the wake of a fresh military push in the Tirah Valley in the Khyber district, where the military has been targeting Taliban and Lashkar-e-Islam militia who threaten the nearby northwestern city of Peshawar.

Separately, a roadside bomb targeting a military convoy Sunday killed two Pakistani soldiers and wounded three more in another tribal region near the Afghan border, officials said.

The bomb was planted on the road near Razmak, about 45 kilometres south of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, a notorious hub of Taliban and al Qaeda-linked militants, local security officials said.

A military official in Peshawar confirmed the casualties. “It went off when a convoy of dozens of vehicles was on its way to the northwestern city of Bannu,” he said, adding that one vehicle was destroyed.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast.

Pakistan will elect its new government for the next five years in polls on May 11. The election of the national and four provincial assemblies will mark the first time a civilian government has completed a full term and handed over to another. Campaigning has been marred by Taliban threats and attacks, which have killed 66 people since April 11, according to an AFP tally. afp

Well they were looking to achieve what any terrorist tin the world would be looking to achieve,to spread TERROR.

Agree. The tribals need to be patriotized and stop harbouring radicals in their midst.

IMO, tribal needed to be armed... because interior ministry & judiciary is patronizing terrorists.

Police is no where to be seen and hundreds of terrorists are set free by judiciary.
