Socio-economic structures will also have to be factored in. In average Muslim families,A child is encouraged to learn his hand in specific trades or lend his hand to family owned business concerns.This quite understandably takes away from the zeal and possibly even the necessity to graduate or pursue higher degrees.
Furthermore,Education is essentially perceived in our societies only as a platform for the gainful employment it can provide.No significance is placed on individual interests or creative potentials.Research and development positions aren't perceived as financially attrative career choices by many as it is heavily dependant on grants.Perhaps if governments could aggressively fund educational grants and make such positions as viable careers,we might see a marked increase in the Nobel tally awarded to Muslims.
