Integration of the Russia-India BrahMos supersonic missile with the Sukhoi Su-30MKI multi-role fighter jet may start in the near future, Machine Building Research and Production Center leading designer Igor Kharlamov told Interfax-AVN on Friday, at the Machine Building Technologies 2010 forum in Zhukovsky.

“A contract on the BrahMos integration with the Su-30MKI is being drafted. It will be presented to Indian partners soon,” he said.

The draft contract enumerates prospective works and estimates their cost, as well as the deadline for testing BrahMos missiles within the Su-30MKI system.

“The Indian Air Force will assign two jets for the testing and develop the missile launcher for integrating the missile into the plane system. All types of land and flight tests will be done, and a report will be drafted on the system worthiness,” he said.

The works may take 30 months. The works will start as soon as the contract is signed and the funding begins.

I don't want to offend anyone's ego and pride here, but didn't our Indian members brag too much that Brahmos was already on SU 30MKI ???

The Air launch version is ready and tested by the Russians but now India wants to a few more tests done on the fighters before sighing the deal.

Counting the chickens before they hatch is a common tendency among people in the sub -continent.

I dont think any one really said anything about Brahmos being actually integrated
with Su30mki already,
Even IAF said that they want to integrate the missile with su30mki by 2012
The MOD have already earmarked 50 su30mki which will be upgraded to carry Brahmos
As per the article , once the comtract is signed , the whole process wil take 30 months , what it simply means that iaf will begin recieving su30mki upgraded to carry brahmos by 2012 , and induction will continue till 2013-14

Frankly i have also heard about RAAD being integrated with JF17 , now when this happens , i have no idea , but i was expecting F16mlu to be integrated with raad

As usual, this is going to be delayed too because Dr. Pillai would have refused to pay some MOD a*****e enough bribes. I wonder when we can get rid of half the people in our government so that less leaders do more work and slog it out to realize what it means to play with our tax money.
