General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday vowed to uphold its ‘dignity and credibility’ through ‘selfless performance of our role and duties.’

The General would do well to remind himself and his sub-ordinates that the Army's dignity and credibility can only be bolstered if it plays its role according to the Constitution, without resorting to illegal usurpation of powers that it has currently granted upon itself. Meddling in politics, beating up police officers on the motorway, and forcibly disappearing civilians and journalists is never going to help its image.
