Nitin Gadkari effect takes the cabinet by storm - The Economic Times
MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unexpectedly showered praise on Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari for 'outstanding performance.'
Known for taking his cabinet colleagues to task for dismal performances, Modi observed that ambitious projects, which were gathering dust for well over a decade, were completed by Gadkari in a brief span of 15 months.
In corridors of power, it is believed that Gadkari has indeed taken the otherwise insignificant departments of transport and shipping by storm and has made the entire bureaucracy more accountable.
An administrator par excellence, Gadkari has set a target of constructing 15-km road per day and reviews it on a daily basis. To ensure clean and transparent administration, Gadkari has set a new system so that there is no scope of charges of corruption or irregularities against him.
Each and every proposal, irrespective of the cost, is personally brought to the notice of the PM and is later submitted before the cabinet for approval. Now, the Gadkari effect is seen all over, as most cabinet members are following him, particularly when it comes to approval of new projects.
