Slamming India’s over-dependence on China, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said that there is nothing wrong to import goods that help to boost production and provide job opportunities but importing goods such as Ganesha idols from China is unacceptable. Nirmala Sitharaman added that importing essential raw materials that are not available in the country is not wrong but why there is a situation where we cannot even make Ganesha idols from clay, PTI reported. Speaking on the government’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, she said that imports that could not bring benefits like employment and economic growth would not help self-reliance and the Indian economy, while addressing the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit workers.

The Finance Minister highlighted that household products such as soap-box, plastic items or incense sticks would support self-reliance when they are made locally in India. She also underlined that self-reliance was practised in India for long, but the trend changed and we started to depend on foreign nations to import goods.

To curb imports and boost the ‘Make in India’ campaign amid the coronavirus-led crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolled out the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan package, which was worth Rs 21 lakh crore. The package included bank guarantees, liquidity measures, monetary measures, and free food grains, among other major relief measures. In the same package, there was also a provision of government-backed guarantees MSME loans worth Rs 3 lakh crore, which was aimed at providing cushion to India’s micro, small and medium enterprises. Meanwhile, after the brutal face-off between India and China earlier this month, there is a nationwide rage to boycott Chinese goods. Even various state governments including Haryana, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh have announced anti-China moves.

Statue of Unity to be ‘made in China’, Gujarat govt says it’s contractor’s call

The Statue of Sardar Patel is slated to be the world’s tallest statue at 182 metres. For the project, Modi had launched a nationwide farm tool collection drive symbolic of “unifying the country”.

Thousands of Chinese workers are expected to arrive at Sadhu Bet in Narmada district end of this year to begin work on the Statue of Unity, a memorial to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — a project launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat chief minister.

Even as Congress criticised the project as defeating the “Make in India” initiative launched by Modi, after reports that the statue’s bronze parts will be made in a foundry in China, the Gujarat government said it has no control over where the contractor company gets the material from.

The Statue of Unity is slated to be the world’s tallest statue at 182 metres. For the project, Modi had launched a nationwide farm tool collection drive symbolic of “unifying the country”.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the company contracted by the Gujarat government for the Rs 3,000-crore project, has sub-leased the “bronze cladding” of the statue to TQ Art Foundry, part of the Jiangxi Toqine Company in Nanchang. Hundreds of Chinese workers are also expected to arrive in Narmada to “assist” L&T in the concrete construction of the statue core.

. . . . .
All this are 3% of total china exports

Indians with the lowest IQ and the highest arrogance and ignorance(it is related) in the world thinks that China depends on India for exports and her economy will be shattered if India stops import from China.

China total exports are in excess of 2800 billion USD and you correctly gives the Indian contribution a paltry 3%.

If one look at the total trade of China with the world, India share is just 2% for China.

And with no stakes in India means a more menacing and dreadful China for them.
