NATO & Afghan Forces attack Pakistani Soldiers in North Waziristan

Why did they attack pak forces?They may apologise later but someone just lost their precious son,may be a precious husband,which they will never get back..RIP the fallen soldier.

Seriously guys, if Jana is giving you some extra information, let her prove it in due course of time, rather than lynching on her. As a senior member we can assume she won't be lying for the fun of it and someone or the other has given this information to her - a journalist.

Now the info can be wrong too as is the case with a lot of news that is reported and corrections are made in time. Saying something doesn't mean its etched in stone.

There is a time, a method and etiquettes of disagreeing with people.

Afghanistan must not be used as the launchpad for proxy wars into Pakistan, which it clearly is. The US and Afghanistan collaborate to form secret armies, fund militant groups to infiltrate inside Pakistan; and even attack Pakistan forces with the Afghan forces. Pakistan must retaliate to these instigations, and even wreck havoc inside Afghanistan if the Afghans and the US do not stop the infiltration on their side.

NATO does support Afghan troops through air power and artillery. It is possible that the Afghans called in NATO support during the clashes without clarifying that it was with Pakistani forces, and NATO responded assuming they were Taliban.

The BBC article does quote Afghan officials saying they suffered casualties, and Pakistani officials saying they used mortars.

"Their attack was completely unprovoked and without reason. The fighting is still continuing, there [have not] been casualties on our side."

But a Pakistani military official in the nearby city of Peshawar gave a different version of events.

He told AFP that "Afghan forces fired several mortar shells on one of our military check posts, leaving one soldier dead and injuring three others".

"We fired in retaliation," the officials said, "our troops are using artillery and mortars."​

AM, there are a lot of assumptions every time something of this magnitude occurs.

Moreover, the NATO chief, American generals waste tax payers money when they visit Kiyani.

If they assume a lot of things than the money spent on their visit is useless.

The people in the afghan "forces" need to be taught a lesson. I've been hearing for quite some time now of the afghan "army" attacking Pakistani forces for nor apparent reason

What on earth is going on in Pakistan. Drones kill us, suciders kill us, diplomats kill us, and now even Afghan's are killing us. I mean how long will we take it for? We ever gna put our foot down? I fail to understand this.

It is war and combat - when you receive a request for air/artillery support because your soldiers are under fire/attack, typically the response is quick.

If the Afghan's did not clarify that they were fighting Pakistani troops, NATO would have had no reason to contact Pakistani officials to clarify the situation - they would have just responded.

If the Afghans did indicate that it was a clash with Pakistani troops, then NATO should have stayed out of it.

We'll have to wait and see what the details are.

Both sides are blaming each other for the attack. No mention of NATO troops in the article. At this stage it seems like a border skirmish between the two sides. Hopefully senior commanders from both sides will be rushed to the scene and sense will prevail

One Pakistani soldier is killed. The locals sources in the area say it was joint attack(Afghan+NATO) whereas our news channels are saying Afghan forces attacked
