Actually the word itself is from old Urdu, and mostly was used in Royal Mughal Courts.

pesh kiya jae.. sound more royal...

Romeo class subs was operational since the 50s, which was infact a direct descendant of later German U boats. There were circumstances, where Soviet sailors died of suffocation because of excess carbon monoxide in the submarine.

Which only means that that the internal combustion engine wasn't as efficient in burning fuels (As carbon monoxide is inflamable, and the engine failed in further reducing it to carbon dioxide), hence one shouldn't expect such primitive engine to be silent.

Present day Auto rickshaw has much advanced diesel engine than Ming class submarines.
