I dont celebrate valentine's.. and especially this one..the month of my prophets birth is more important..
but If somebody is.. go ahead..
I cant offer you any better alternative in this country anyway to take your frustrations out..

The biggest sales of valentine's go out from middle class societies.. especially those from all girl or all boys colleges..

Maybe if we consider this fact that a very very large majority of people in Pakistan do not know what Valentine's day is.
People lived just as well, without this day.
wind the clocks back some 10-12 years, and you will see extremely small percentage of people who were aware of this day.

I think what causes this reaction of rejection , be it from Jamat-Islami or Hindu parties is how a small fraction of TV anchors
self proclaimed quasi philosophers propogate and rub this in every one's face.

The push from media is SO strong, that the conservatives have no way to defend except for restoring to such tactics.

Because we are not elected representatives and you are here on the forum on our set guidelines of your own freewill. On the forum you may not be the boss of us, but in Pakistan you're the boss of government.

It is so sad to see that even 'love' becomes controversial in Pakistan. Why is that so? What is wrong in setting aside one day in the whole year where you can stop and talk to your special one in more romantic than usual ways and celebrate each other's company by exchanging chocolates or roses? This just re-affirms the bond. There is also economic activity generated. In Pakistan's context this does not mean that people are having sex on public park benches or are bathing naked on Karachi's beaches. Such things don't happen even the so-called 'Madr Pidr Azad' countries.
But the religious conservative is basically a demented person with a dirty mind and a small prick. Having been suckered into a life of suffocation, by fate or by choice, he is the proverbial 40-year old virgin--a jealous one at that. So he sees a husband buying a rose for his wife and this bearded stone-age relic plays his jealousy in the guise of religion.
