Afghanistan has about 250 Billion dollars worth of minerals in Pak-Afghan border but nobody has ever thought of extracting them . Why? Because the current extraction costs are estimated at 300 Billion Dollars.
Having Shale is another thing but having economically viable to extract reserves is another.

Had the military restricted itself to defence duties and not gotten involved in politics, they would not have been ridiculed like this.
