What's new

My Motherland Pakistan

. .
Well cities in subcontinent host more ppl and average density per sq/km is high compared to western countries. Some of the cities were founded long time back (other than islamabad) say 2 or 3 centuries back. If you see cities in US are relatively new and there is no way they can be compared to the older subcontinent ones.

Japan I think is the most crowded country and yet they are very clean as well..its all in the mentality and will...

No dear nothing to do with Afghans :). In fact PTI has made a very good effort though not 100% but still the effort bore results.

PTI has done a very good job in Peshawar.... Almost everyone from Peshawar who I know acknowledges that....but Afghans leaving also has had an impact, making it less crowded than was before.
It was my first visit there after about 10 years and that also for a day but those were my initial impressions.

Why are we complaining any way? Its our Pakistan... when we who live in other countries, occupied zones of India or expats go back to Pakistan we are prepared to toughen ourselves before reaching there. We are prepared to see poverty, lack of security and uncleanliness. Obviously things should improve but you have to man up and accept you are going to a poorer country.

Every intellectual of every country such way. It's our responsibility to make our country better..
If we are failing at this we all responsible.

Exactly.. It's got to do with civic sense, Not much to do with density of the population, New York is just as dirty as some of the cities in the developing world, So are parts of Paris

Actually except for maybe Chandigargh (sic).. Rest of Indian cities are worse off.. Culcutta, Bombay, Delhi especially Old Delhi, Madras are absolutely chaotic and dirty, Bangalore used to be such a clean green place in the 90's but not any more
There has been rapid explosion of population influx into these cities. There is no structured expansion but chaotic greedy illegal occupation of lands disregarding the rules. But there is certain element of truth in that cities are dirty bcos attitude of ppl who think keeping their homes clean but throwing the garbage onto neighbors land!

This is true though older cities lack space, Especially those that are not geared for such mass migrations centuries ago

Sure they are but they are more disciplined, planned and meticulous.

there are many factors that lead to that but civic sense in the population can mitigate many issues in densely populated cities.. You cant leave everything to the govts to solve, Public cooperation is a must for environmental issues
