KARACHI - Following a meeting between the PPP and MQM leaders in Dubai, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the Muttahida’s joining the Sindh government in near future.
Talking to TheNation, MQM deputy convener Nasir Jamal contradicted media reports and said that his party had made no decision regarding joining the Sindh government adding that the meeting with the PPP was a part of political and democratic process. He said that in past, the MQM leadership met the PPP leaders in the presence of Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad, but it doesn’t mean his party is going to join the Sindh government.
Earlier on Saturday, senior MQM leaders held a meeting in Dubai to hold consultations and met former president Asif Zardari and former interior minister Rehman Malik. The MQM delegation included Dr Ishratul Ebad, Nadeem Nusrat and Adil Siddiqui.
Prior to the meeting, sources said that the PPP had invited the MQM to join the Sindh government. The sources disclosed that Nadeem Nusrat brought to the fore his party’s reservations and Asif Zardari assured the MQM that all of its grievances would be addressed.
On the occasion, various issues came under discussion including the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi and local bodies' election. The two sides agreed to give a better turn to their ties and decided to form a committee comprising members from both parties.
Sources further said that Ebad will call on Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to establish the committee comprising eight members from both sides.
The announcement of the committee is expected in a few days while the committee would hold meeting to resolve the issues chiefly the MQM’s joining the Sindh govt. It is pertinent to mention here that like many times in the past, the MQM and PPP leadership met in Dubai again to settle down their political issues.

DUBAI: Both the top political parties of Sindh seem to be on a "coalition course" as Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, Sunday offered five ministries to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) during a meeting with the senior leaders of the latter, Samaa reported.

According to sources, as part of renewed efforts to revive political ties with its erstwhile ally in Sindh government, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Nadeem Nusrat, called on Asif Ali Zardari.

The PPP's political wizard laid down a bait of five ministries to tempt MQM back into the government, but the street smart party did not jump to it, sources told Samaa.

Though the MQM leaders welcomed the offer, but did not accept or reject it during the meeting, however Samaa also learnt that both the parties have struck bargain over certain key issues.

Sources privy to the matters informed Samaa that the MQM would decide on it after through consultations with the party leadership.

During the meeting, Asif Ali Zardari said that for the welfare of people at large the process of reconciliation must endure until consensus was reached.

Zardari also vowed to step up political co-work so that way could be paved for durable rapprochement that both the parties were sincerely striving for.

Nadeem Nusrat, the MQM Coordination Committee Deputy Convener, however, carried wishes of goodwill to the PPP supremo from his party chief Altaf Hussain.

Governor Sindh, Dr Isharat-ul-Ebad, and Senator Rehman Malik were also present on the occasion.

It is yet another attempt by the PPP to form a coalition with the MQM.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement is currently the second largest party in Sindh with 37 out of 130 seats and overall the fourth largest party in the National Assembly of Pakistan after the Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.--SAMAA

PPP desires to resolve issues with MQM: Memon

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wanted to resolve issues with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) through reconciliation.

Talking to media persons outside the Sindh Assembly on Monday, Sharjeel Memon said Asif Ali Zardari was desirous to remove misunderstandings with the MQM but he has not yet given the task to anyone for the said purpose.

He said the PPP believes in politics of reconciliation and it had always followed the said policy in the larger interest of masses and country.

The provincial minister said targeted operation in Karachi was not against any group or political party but aimed at clearing the city from criminals.

He said that security personnel were conducting operation in the city without differentiation of political affiliation or as revenge action against anyone.

Sharjeel Memon said deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi was not only confronting the dwellers of the city but also affecting security situation in the country besides casting bad impact on national economy.

He vowed that operation in the mega city will continue till clearing it of outlaws and illegal arms.

MQM is the most professional and well organised party in pakistan

MQM joined PPP in 2008 so that the PPP and MQM whose relations had been strained in the 90s should get back on track and remembering the blood shed which happened in the 90s the step was taken, since MQM took the decision to form an alliance with PPP, it maintained the alliance for five years

now since MQM is not satisfied with PPP and in its referendum when MQM workers decided that MQM should not join the government again and should do opposition MQM will keep it at least for next five years, this is the decision MQM has taken and im sure MQM will maintain till next elections

the meetings are only happening to discuss the governance issues in Sind and how can they both improve the governance in SInd by mutual cooperation, any opposition becomes meaningless when its done less for the people and more or political point scoring, i mean for serious politics, the interests of Sindis is discussed and not party's interest

people who are not satisfied with PPP should keep this in their mind that PPP holds the mandate now, there is no other way to improve the situation other than dialoguing with them and resolving matters on the table
