More Than 70 Candidates Of Pakistani Origin Are Competing In The Upcoming Elections

These 15 British-Pakistanis Stood Victorious In The UK Elections

As many as 70 candidates of the Pakistani origin contested in the December 12th General Elections in the United Kingdom. However, fifteen Pakistanis have been declared victorious in their respected constituencies.

Most of the winning contestants belong to the Labour Party, followed by the Consecutive Party.

Ten candidates of Labour while five of the Conservative party have secured seats in the general elections. Among candidates, there are six female and nine male candidates.

Here are those who secured wins in the UK polls:
  • Naz Shah won the general elections from Bradford,
  • Khalid Mehmood from Birmingham,
  • Afzal Khan from Manchester’s Gorton,
  • Tahir Ali from Birmingham’s Hall Green,
  • Yasmin Qureshi from South Bolton,
  • Muhammad Yaseen from Bedfordshire,
  • Imran Hussain from Bradford East,
  • Zarah Sultana from Coventry South,
  • Shabana Mahmood from Birmingham Lady wood,
  • Rozina Ali from Tooting, Nusrat Ghani from Walden,
  • Imran Ahmed from Bedfordshire,
  • Sajid Javid from Bromsgrove,
  • Rehman Chishti from Gillingham
  • and Saqib Bhatti from Meriden.
Overall Results:
The Conservative party had given 19 tickets to British-Pakistanis, Labour party to 12 whereas; Liberal Democratic had given tickets to 5.

The Conservative Party on Friday won the majority of seats in the United Kingdom election.

Johnson won an outright majority in the 650-seat parliament after an exit poll showed the Conservatives on course to win a landslide 368 seats – the biggest Conservative national election w

Compared to where the Pakistani community stood in 2005, we as a people have made HUGE gains in terms of political power in the UK.
