Modi steps into Pakistan -UAE breach

What has India's bilateral ties got to do with Pakistan.... Pakistan is more than welcome to have good relations with UAE..... This is not a zero sum game.
Unfortunately Pakistan criteria of good friend is Anti-India. They consider everything from the perspective of harming India. Thats their state policy as well. bleed with 1000 cuts.

Indians are very smart as they are trying to isolate Pakistan in economic terms .
1. Rice dumping resulted in less exports (30%)
2. Giving rebate of over 30-40 % in textile just to counter Pakistan exports result in declining exports in this sector
3. Now UAE biggest contributor of remittances to Pakistan .

I believe Yemen conflict could have been done in a very different way .Some called him Saudi pitho even though Pak didnt send troops .At the end of day we have to choose lesser of Evil with Iran acting totally lunatic so it was a wise decision not to go as we all know who is sponsoring who .But mind my words at the end of day Arabs need Pak more than Pak need Arabs as no one is going to bail them out when they will be threatened .
Sir, it's about economics. Middle East doesn't need us for military reasons. We should get out of this retarded approach to foreign policy. Times have changed and so should we. We also need to get rid of seeing every damn thing from religious or military perspective.

Money has no religion and no nationality. If Pakistan was economically strong, every country would have been interested in having good relationships with us. Propaganda has deluded the common public to such an extent that we continue to believe that foreign relations could be built upon cheap religious emotionalism and the so-called strategic interests.

The only real strategic interest is economic interest.

Two bigots saying this, one who boasted helping terrorists in East Pakistan and other who funds and supports sectarian terrorism in Pakistan. What a shame. I though people can be characterless but it seems now states are also deprived of any principals before making hypocritical statements.

Koi Sharam hoti hai koi haya hoti hai, par tum log kya jano tumhay to Gawadar ki aag lagi hai :D

And yet Pakistanis are brainwashed by Pakistan ISI and media to keep on believing all the terrorists in Pakistan is none of their fault.

You need to understand this is not world works ,It is a clear divide now Nations alligning themselves with US and nation alligning with China .Good luck you will see what US group will do to you

India is aligned to no one.

How many times do Indians have to tell you? We have good relationship with almost everyone.

And yet Pakistanis are brainwashed by Pakistan ISI and media to keep on believing all the terrorists in Pakistan is none of their fault.

Our security advisers don't give presentations in colleges and universities, they don't have time to make fake stories of how they spent their time in enemy country. Forget ISI nobody knows who is ISI except that we all know who is DG ISI.

Yes media did brainwash us by showing your pathetic movie trailers and item songs. But why am I replying to you, its no use, I have seen you people bad mouth these same Arabs now it is like you found some lost true love for them.

Nope I never bad mouthed UAE, infact as a UK resident, I would like to work in UAE for a secondment.

UAE have a large expat community from the western world world there.

See the problem with Pakistan & Pakistanis has always been that they still have that school boy way of thinking of having ' best friends' & ' if you are not with me - you are against me'.

Nations do not behave like this, at least the mature & economically stable ones do not.

Principles may remain constant ( for instance adherence to democracy) but relationships are transactional.

Sir, it is increasingly being seen in certain circles here that Pakistan is one major terror hit on a major Chinese city traced back to Pakistan away from losing their last remaining sugar daddy.

One major 26/11 style hit. Beijing or Shanghai. Non state actors.

The title of this article reproduced as the title of this thread says it all.

Pakistanis see Indians meeting anyone as a ' breach' however all muslim nations are no so hardlined or posssesive

NEW DELHI: Has Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stepped into the recent breach between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates over Islamabad’s refusal to actively join the Yemen war against the Houthi fighters?

Indian media was clear that Mr Modi, on the last day of a two-day visit to Abu Dhabi and Dubai on Monday, made veiled but unmistakable references to Pakistan, particularly in the context of terrorism, during a large public address to the Indian community.

“I am sure those that are being discussed here know it’s about them,” he said at the Dubai cricket stadium to loud applause. A joint statement between the two countries has a few pointers to the implicit Pakistan angle.

He mentioned every South Asian country, from Afghanistan to Bangladesh, as a partner in India’s progress, saying: “Those who do not wish to join us can choose their own destiny.”

The first prime ministerial visit from India “after 34 years marks the beginning of a new and comprehensive strategic partnership between India and UAE in a world of multiple transitions and changing opportunities and challenges,” the statement said.

The joint statement spoke of an extensive framework of agreements, including economic, defence, security, law enforcement, culture, consular and people-to-people contacts constitute solid bedrock for elevating bilateral cooperation across the full spectrum of our relationship.

“The two nations reject extremism and any link between religion and terrorism. They condemn efforts, including by states, to use religion to justify, support and sponsor terrorism against other countries,” the statement said. “They also deplore efforts by countries to give religious and sectarian colour to political issues and disputes, including in West and South Asia, and use terrorism to pursue their aims.” Only in April this year, as Pakistani lawmakers called for the government to remain neutral in the crisis in Yemen, they evoked a strong response from the United Arab Emirates.

“The vague and contradictory stands of Pakistan and Turkey are an absolute proof that Arab security — from Libya to Yemen — is the responsibility of none but Arab countries,” UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash said at the time. References that might have once applied to ties with Pakistan were replete with India in Monday’s statement. It said: “Proximity, history, cultural affinity, strong links between people, natural synergies, shared aspirations and common challenges create boundless potential for a natural strategic partnership between India and UAE.

“Yet, in the past, relations between the two governments have not kept pace with the exponential growth in relations between their people or the promise of this partnership. However, the need for a close strategic partnership between UAE and India has never been stronger or more urgent, and its prospects more rewarding, than in these uncertain times.”

Several references to terrorism and related issues that India usually applies to Pakistan featured in the joint statement.

The two would “coordinate efforts to counter radicalisation and misuse of religion by groups and countries for inciting hatred, perpetrating and justifying terrorism or pursuing political aims. The two sides will facilitate regular exchanges of religious scholars and intellectuals and organise conferences and seminars to promote the values of peace, tolerance, inclusiveness and welfare that is inherent in all religions.”

Most significantly perhaps, they denounced and opposed “terrorism in all forms and manifestations, wherever committed and by whomever, calling on all states to reject and abandon the use of terrorism against other countries, dismantle terrorism infrastructures where they exist, and bring perpetrators of terrorism to justice.”

India and the UAE will enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism operations, intelligence sharing and capacity building. They plan to work together for the adoption of India’s proposed Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism in the United Nations.

With implications for the underworld, they would come “together to control, regulate and share information on flow of funds that could have a bearing on radicalisation activities and cooperate in interdicting illegal flows and take action against concerned individuals and organisations.”

They plan to strengthen cooperation in “law enforcement, anti-money laundering, drug trafficking, other trans-national crimes, extradition arrangements, as well as police training.”

Indian newspapers say they have not been able to find any other reason for Mr Modi’s sudden rush to the UAE.

UAE-India bilateral trade in focus at Modi's visit

Abu Dhabi, 3 days ago
Bilateral trade between India, which currently stands at $60 billion, is likely to be on the agenda during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to the emirates, according to a report.

India is the largest trading partner for the UAE with more than $28 billion in non-oil trade, said the Gulf News report.

Robin Mills, head of Consulting at Manaar Energy in Dubai, UAE, said the renewable energy sector is a potential area due to the expansion of Indian solar power companies.

Indian infrastructure, ports and energy are all priority sectors requiring investment, where the UAE may seek to be involved, it said.

“The Indian gas production and power generation are possible areas for companies such as Mubadala, International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) and Taqa,” he said.

According to details furnished by the Indian Embassy, Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Construction Company has won a major engineering and construction contract to build offshore platforms from India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) valued a Dh550 million ($149.7 million).

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) is operating a 250-MegaWatt lignite power plant in Tamil Nadu and it has plans to expand it with an investment of around $250 million.

India may not be looking to increase its import of crude from the UAE because of its complex refineries but may seek cooperation in strategic oil storage, said Mills.

Gary Dugan, chief investment officer at National Bank of Abu Dhabi said there are significant opportunities for investment in the infrastructure in India.

“India is clearly targeting foreign capital to help fund some very substantial projects from port development to road building and energy,” he said.

“The opportunities for the UAE sovereign wealth managers could be substantial as interest rates in India are significantly above international norms and hence will help to inflate prospective returns from infrastructure to the 15-20 per cent range.”

India needs capital to develop its domestic infrastructure and is looking to significantly increase its exports. “The UAE is a natural partner on both fronts.”

Indian Business and Professional Council President Kulwant Singh said increasing bilateral trade would be on top of the agenda for Modi.

“There might be an effort to implement the bilateral investment protection and promotion agreement so that the UAE investments in India could be protected and safeguarded.”

Narendra Taneja, National Convener of Energy Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party in India said the Prime Minister’s visit is aimed at deepening economic, energy and political ties with the UAE.

“The new global era belongs to building and strengthening interdependence, and, needless to say, there is a huge potential for UAE businesses to invest in India and vice versa,” he said in an emailed statement.

“Undoubtedly, the energy (oil, gas and renewables) sector is a perfect area for building such an interdependence between India and the UAE."
