Mirage 2000 upgrade talks begin

Not so simple. The price quoted by the French is exorbitant. Made sense to wait for the MMRCA contract to be decided so as to put some more pressure on the French. The upgradation must make economic sense.

It was reported earlier that India agreed to the price and the deal signed but today it is revealed that they are starting the price negotiation again. If France do not agree they should cancel the deal all together and buy something else with that money. About waiting for MRCA, Mirage-2000 up-gradation came into fact knowing there will be delay regarding MRCA. Now if Mirage-2000 depends on MRCA than what is the point here.

That's what happens when you close down Marut funding. The great great visionary in IAF thought its better to import because its cheaper. Sure its cheaper and now they know how that attitude made us dependent on foreign suppliers.

Once you buy a plane(mirage etc.) from outside, you depend on them forever for integrating anything in or out of that plane because they never transfer you codes.

Thanks to people like APJ and DRDO who sticked with LCA efforts. Now we have an option.

AMCA will break all the attitude of these foreign suppliers. Mark my words, as soon as AMCA is launched, all these MICA, Derby prices will fall.

Israelis are smart. They know where future is going. So they jumped in and signed Derby deal for LCA at good prices before AMCA comes in picture.
